Speaker Pelosi has released a statement on the Administration’s newly proposed expanded travel ban. Mr. Trump has added Myanmar, Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Sudan to the list. Virtue signaling has ensued with haste.
“In the Congress and in the Courts, House Democrats will continue to oppose the Administration’s dangerous anti-immigrant agenda. In the coming weeks, the House Judiciary Committee will mark-up and bring to the Floor the NO BAN Act to prohibit religious discrimination in our immigration system and limit the President’s ability to impose such biased and bigoted restrictions. We will never allow hatred or bigotry to define our nation or destroy our values.”
Nancy Pelosi’s home state of California has a travel ban. It prohibits Muslim state employees and all other state personnel, regardless of values or religious conscience, from traveling to 11 US states.
The Obama administration instituted travel bans from nations filled with people of color of varying religious conscience to the sound of silence from Democrats and Nancy Pelosi.
The actual details of the expanded Travel Ban are not public yet. I could not find them. But the facts are irrelevant to the Left’s objections. They are opposing them because of Trump.
And now, nations across the globe are now in the process of instituting travel bans from all the Asian nations affected by the spread of the coronavirus (including the US).
Should we expect them to oppose those as well?
