It’s fun to play trivial pursuit with our liberal friends. They don’t like the questions or the answers, so they call you names and deflect. And unlike the movie Wargames, when it comes to Libs, the only way to win is to keep playing. Take fires, for example.

After it was revealed that a global NGO paid big money for pictures of fires in the Amazon that appear to have been set by people taking the photos, the left lost their mind. It wasn’t even a bad year for fire in the jungle, and most of it was an effect of actual fire-starting by people, not a natural result of man’s preference for cheap, abundant energy (and an aversion to socialism as a solution to anything).
The same holds for Australia. The fake news media, like the Democrat’s government, need a crisis, so everything has to be a crisis. Nothing bad that happens can’t be blamed on our unwillingness to progress economically toward central planning.
This is your fault (false), but the government can fix it (also false).
The government can’t fix it, and the fires are not your fault. Back in 1939, there more fires in Australia than today and a conspicuous absence of modern conveniences we’re expected to give up to “prevent these fires from starting.”
If you are a regular reader, you know that we had terrible heatwaves in the early 1900s. And in the 1930s, there was another global heatwave. It got hotter for longer and more often than anything we’ve seen since. It is the data that gets left out of every Left-leaning analysis of climate over the past century. Why? It confounds the theory and undermines their confiscatory political-economic agenda.

After the 1939 fires in Australia, there was a commission set up to study what happened and what could have been done differently.

- There was a long drought followed by extreme heat
- Almost the entire state of Victoria appeared to be on fire on January 13
- It was dark as night at midday
- The amount of controlled burning was “ridiculously inadequate”

- That the climate cult cherry-picks data and starting points to scare people.
- It ignores inconvenient history.
- That neither you nor CO2 have nothing to do with anything and this is just an effort by socialists to institute socialism as a cure for the lack of socialism.
- The experts tapped to advance climate socialism are consistently hyperbolic and wrong.
This is an economic and political program, not an environmental one. But even if it were the latter history also tells us that free people and free markets will do more, more quickly, at less expense, if such a need arises, than politicians using force to deprive you of your means.
