Gas Pump gas can

This is in response to DCE’s post over at Weekend Pundit:

I can get behind this idea.  If Trump wants to lock in the votes from some of the cold weather states all he needs to do is do for gas cans what he’s doing for dishwashers.

If Donald Trump wants to ensure he recaptures the 2020 electoral votes in the Great Lakes states he won in 2016 – and possibly add Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Maine – there is one simple thing he could do that would make him a hero to every snow-blowing American – issue an executive order to restore functioning gas cans.

To be clear, this would also make him a hero to tens of millions of other Americans throughout the country who use lawn mowers, power tools, etc around their homes or in their jobs. In 2009 the EPA banned the sale of gas cans that functionally pour gas. To be specific, the scientifically illiterate bureaucrats at the EPA outlawed gas cans with vents, mandating that all new gas cans must have crazy contraptions that require three hands to operate. Unlike the old gas cans, the new ones spill gas all over the user and onto the ground. The result of the EPA’s incompetence is a new gas can that is much worse for the environment than the one it replaced.

I can testify just how bad gas cans are these days. I dislike them intensely as they have always been a pain-in-the-ass to use and tend to spill gasoline whenever they are used.

I HATE NEW (and improved!) GAS CANS!!! Some stupid overbearing self-righteous bureaucrat was watching too many YouTube videos of stupid people throwing gas onto roaring fires (or those just about ready to “take off”) from the older style cans (that actually worked without becoming environmental hazards themselves) along stacks of hospital records showing the consequences of doing said actions. Now, when my 4 year old Grandson comes up to me with a beaming face, a finger up in the air, and then says “I HAVE AN IDEA!” – I know what to expect (yes, it’s an idea that is generally going to get a laugh and “looks with Grammy”).

Be fearful of most “I HAVE AN IDEA!” from bureaucrats as they believe they must solve yet another problem that MIGHT stop a bit of stupidity but causes the rest of us Normals a lot more than a wee bit a grief, time, and words not to be muttered in front of small kids and animals. So, after years of putting up with this crap (and studiously trying to take care of my old ones that still worked, I bought this:

WORKS LIKE A BOSS!  $40 bucks – have been using it for over a year now.  Two D batteries (you can get it here but this is not a sponsored post!). Not the most fastest thing but I no longer have to call out a haz mat crew to clean up the vehicles or ground after gassing something up. It does what it is supposed to – what else can you ask for!

So now I have 4 different kinds of gas cans and I use NONE of the spouts that they came with – they are now just covers. Undo them, stick the unit into can, and press the trigger on the handle (see left hand above in the picture). You can even vary the flow amount (e.g., I can go full bore when filling the Saab but the F150 has some kind of anti-siphoning block that keeps me from going any faster than 3/4’s unless I really find the “sweet spot” by moving the handle up/down/sideways).

Highly recommended but I do wish Trump would walk on down to that original bureaucrat’s cubical in the cube farm and give him/her a whatfor for me because NOBODY SHOULD HAVE TO PURCHASE YET ANOTHER ITEM TO MAKE THE FIRST ONE DO WHAT IT IS SUPPOSED TO DO.

As far as the dishwashers are concerned, I’m trying to baby ours of 15 years for another year; go here and read more as to yet another reason why Trump is winning (shush – it’s because he understands what Government has been doing to our quality of life and the exasperation of buying stuff based on Govt regulations that don’t work):

Which is to say, women do the dishes in 70% of American households, and they hate the chore. Instead of slamming Trump for “sexism,” his campaign for getting rid of regulations that have ruined dishwashers should be seen as a feminist issue. It is women who have mostly borne the brunt of these regulations. Deregulation will help them get their lives back.

These regulations have caused an infuriating and devastating degradation of the quality of appliances and the quality of life in our homes. Trump is a smart politician. He specializes in finding issues that no one else is talking about how they directly affect the quality of life. For a man often wrong about issues such as trade, he has absolutely nailed this one perfectly.

It’s gratifying for me personally that this is finally an issue. I’ve been trying to alert people to how government is ruining our homes for longer than a decade. If people knew the full extent to which government regulations have messed up our lives, there would be mass outrage in this country. This is something Trump knows but the mainstream press pretends is not an issue.

“Introducing your grandparents’ dishwasher. It washes your dishes in half the time! This offer is not available in any store or anywhere in the United States”
