Trump Administration Ends Catch and Release for Illegal Aliens – Wait in Mexico or Get Sent Home

The Trump Administration has officially ended catch and release. The practice required Border Control to let Illegals loose in the country while awaiting a hearing on their asylum status. Many disappeared, but no more.

“If migrant family units do not claim fear of return, they will be quickly returned to their country of origin, in close collaboration with Central American countries,” the statement read. “If they do claim fear, they will generally be returned to Mexico under the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP).”

Catch and Release had been in response to other rulings about detention periods for illegal border crossers. The time allowed was far too short given the caseload. Instead of detaining criminal immigrants, they would be set loose on the honor system, many chose not to honor.

Throughout the many legal challenges, the Trump administration offered several creative alternatives. The most amusing of these was bussing or flying ‘released’ illegals to Sanctuary Cities, where they would feel “safe.”

Mayors, Governors, and even celebrities cried foul. Here’s Cher:

“I Understand Helping struggling Immigrants, but MY CITY (Los Angeles) ISNT TAKING CARE OF ITS OWN.WHAT ABOUT THE 50,000+??Citizens WHO LIVE ON THE STREETS …”

Once again, a devout liberal appears to have been left out of the loop. None of this has anything to do with struggling or caring. It’s about overwhelming the system to force middle-America to stop clinging to their individual rights and property and give it all up for the Government.

A “something” they should loathe to do. Once those rights are gone, you won’t get them back.

Mr. Trump, who has chosen to stand between the Globalist Left, Democrats, and us, is doing what he can with what he has. Thanks to agreements with Mexico and El Salvador, and a recent 7-2 Supreme Court ruling in his favor, he can implement a plan that makes sense in this circumstance.

“With some humanitarian and medical exceptions, DHS will no longer be releasing family units from Border Patrol Stations into the interior,” McAleenan said in his prepared remarks. “This means that for family units, the largest demographic by volume arriving at the border this year, the court-mandated practice of catch and release due to the inability of DHS to complete immigration proceedings with families detained together in custody — will have been mitigated.”

Those who do arrive do not need to be detained in the US or set loose. They can be returned to their home country (to El Salvador) or Mexico.

And the word is getting out across Central America

No more Caravans. Illegal crossings and captures are down in the southern border states. Fewer folks daring to make the trip means less money for drug and human traffickers profiting from left-wing policy. All because you can no longer walk into America and get released into the country. You have to sneak in and not get caught.

That will continue. But nothing like what we’ve seen recently.

It will also reduce the cost to process and detain illegals (fewer of them) while the Administration works to shore up border security to reduce easy points of access.

It’s another massive win for legal immigrants, American citizens, border towns, ICE agents, and a bit of relief for stressed budgets. It should also free up some room in those concentration camps Obama built for kids who can’t just show up. They too will need to wait in Mexico or catch a ride back to their home countries.

Let’s see how long it takes a liberal judge to screw this up.
