The statistics showing who gets abortions do not prevent movements like #ShoutYourAbortion from claiming the name liberal. Lindy West, Amelia Bonow, and Kimberly Morrison started this particular social media campaign. They have been widely publicized. How sad is that?
Black women should understand the CDC says there are proportionally 5.7 times as many abortions in the black community as there are in the white community. It is an issue to be understood for sure. But it should not be a point of pride.
Abortion pride
“Sex strike” organizer Alyssa Milano characterizes herself as liberal. She refers to her 2 abortions as “something she needed.” Does she ever wonder what her babies needed? What is liberal about her utterances? She and her partner had a choice about their actions. Their now dead children, did not.
Ms. Milano makes claims that if not for her abortion, “I would not have my career. I would not have the ability or platform I use to fight against oppression with all my heart.”
Is this what passes for an enlightened liberal position? The reasoning seems to be that two dead babies are a fair price for personal success. It’s a position. Maybe that’s a liberal position. However, it seems much more likely to be a leftist position.
In attempting to justify her decision to terminate her pregnancies Milano knocks her religion. She also attempts to blame the patriarchy.
She said, “I was raised Catholic and was suddenly put in conflict with my faith. A faith I was coming to realize empowered only men to make every single decision about what was allowed and what was not allowed.”
Her position is ignorant of church dogma. It is also personally irresponsible. She did what she wanted to do, when she wanted to do it, because she wanted to do it. No one stopped her. Her position is how dare the church have a position other that hers? How selfish and unaware can one human be?
Certainly she is driven to success. How is that oppression by males? Maybe that powers her guilt. But that is all internal to her. As a male it seems she was using her partner for her personal gratification. That was voluntary. There was no coercion.
Sexualization of children
How is it liberal to support an agenda of the sexualization of children? The Murrieta Public School District in California recently got exposure to sex education practice. Via a video by Our Watch, they got a perspective of what and how sex education programs in California are teaching elementary school age children. Is it appropriate to teach about oral sex, masturbation, role-playing, and other sex acts in elementary school?
The California Board of Education allows the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) to instruct California schoolteachers on how to help underaged children obtain abortions without parental consent. Did you know that? Is it something you are comfortable with? Do you think you should know if your elementary school age daughter is being coached into abortion literacy? Is that decision really a school board decision?
Conclusion
These are examples of the pervasiveness of the left. What they are doing is not liberal… it is leftist. The questions become: Why liberals are so desperate to appear right morally? Why are they willing to partner with any cause, no matter how depraved or unconscionable? There is a difference between liberal and leftist. It is time we wake up and smell the coffee. If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything.
