That’s Matt Margolis’ headline. It is the best possible way to explain this. Explain What? In the wake of major-media outlets implying that Donald Trump was nowhere near Ground Zero on 9/11, inquiring minds have uncovered unpleasant truths.
Trump was there. He was in New York on 9/11. There’s video proof. You’d think the MSNBC producer who first claimed Trump was lying would have looked. The evidence is in the NBC archives. He probably has access. But that is not how TDS works.
Whatever the President says some partisan media hack must contradict it publicly. The claim gets traction on the left, and maybe, just maybe, it becomes part of the collectivist unconscious; like Tina Fey playing Sarah Palin claiming she can see Russia from her front porch.
It was a skit. And it was amusing. But there are some adults who are otherwise typical, productive people that think the former Alaska Governor and one-time Vice-Presidential candidate said the words. That’s the power of media.
This is the power of New Media.
Proving the partisan Trump-Hating media Liberal wrong is more than a cottage industry. It has become a full-time job because neither Snopes nor the media’s other “fact-checkers” can be bothered. That’s not why they exist. They are third-party truth squads like those created by Democrat groups to develop media narratives for the press. Only, this is the press doing that work for the Democrats.
It’s killing them. CNN is having trouble competing with the Hallmark Channel and Home and Garden Television. MSNBC’s only bright spot (ratings-wise) was Rachel Maddow. She fell from her 2018 top prime time spot and now lingers in fifth place among Cable shows. In New Hampshire, GraniteGrok gets more internet eyeballs each month than every newspaper web portal in the Granite State.
They are not all peddling Trump Derangement Syndrome 24/7/365. TDS is just the latest symptom of a disease that has been eating away at the industry for decades. Partisan multi-billion-dollar media corporations acting as stenographers for the Democrat party (as Rush likes to say). Providing millions of dollars in free earned media and narrative support with a decidedly leftward tilt. All while playing at objectivity.
The only folks that still believe that think Snopes is unbiased and Sarah Palin saw Russia from her front porch.
They also believe Hillary Clinton when she said she was there on 9/11.
In an address Tuesday evening in Sanford, Florida, Hillary Clinton said: “I was in New York City on 9/11 as one of two senators. I will defeat ISIS.”
Except she wasn’t in New York City. She was in Washington, D.C., as Congress was still in session.
Then-Senator Clinton traveled to New York on 9/12. She helped obtain support from the Federal government. Hillary did what any US Senator is supposed to do. But like many things Hillary Clinton, after the fact, she lied about it to advance her personal prestige because that comes before the Truth. A problem she shares with the Media.
