Which Side Are You On Congressmen?… Which Side Are You On?

From an article by Houston Keene at the Independent Journal Review: Speaker Pelosi was in New York on Monday. During the event she was discussing immigration policy.

In her remarks the Speaker said she believed President Donald Trump‘s postponed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids were “outside the circle of civilized human behavior” and “appalling.” She also questioned what the “point” was of enforcing “interior” immigration laws.

The quote, “We have legislation to go forward to address those needs, but in terms of interior enforcement, what’s the – what’s the point?” Discussing her phone call with the president last week regarding his planned ICE raids, the speaker also claimed during the event that an individual’s “violation of status” did not serve as a “reason” to deport them from the country: “So that is really kind of what happened. He didn’t say what he was going to do, but the president said, ‘Oh, I’ll let you know, I’ll let you know.’ Went into, ‘Well, people broke the laws.’ A violation of status is not a reason for deportation. That’s just not so.”

The Rule of Law: Do you believe in it?

Under existing U.S. law, a person who has overstayed their visa for more than 180 days faces deportation proceedings. Rule of law is a principle under which all persons, institutions, and entities are accountable to laws that are: publicly promulgated, equally enforced and independently adjudicated. What Speaker Pelosi has said is offensive. It is utter nonsense.

Either we are a nation or we are not. We either have laws which we respect and enforce or we do not. To selectively decide which laws we will enforce; to selectively decide when we will enforce them is to continue down the road to tyranny which we are now on. Let’s demand the Speaker apologize for and retract her comments. If not then let’s got full on sanctuary and ignore the 16th Amendment too. We don’t need that income tax anyway.

Where are our members of the House of Representatives? Why has Mr. Pappas not spoken out as our Representative from the first congressional district? Why has Representative Kuster not taken issue with the Speaker?

Conclusion:

It is time to hear from them about why they support the Speaker. It is time for them to be clear about what they are doing to represent New Hampshire’s interests. We certainly are in the midst of a situation on our border. There are many, many people attempting to enter the country. There are millions of people here illegally. The influx of illegal aliens is costing us a huge amount of money. It endangers our security. It threatens our health. Do Congressmen Kuster and Pappas support the Rule of Law or not? Are they part of the solution or part of the problem?
