I was in Manchester yesterday morning for a meeting at the Americans for Prosperity/NH office. During the meeting, it came out that the one year anniversary was happening and that if anyone had anything to say, well, we’d be happy to video it. Not being used to being in front of the camera, and having a direct connection to the case, I volunteered my quick story. Here is the unedited version:
And here is what AFP is putting up on Facebook. They’ll have a compendium video a little later on, and I’ve asked to be sent a copy. I know my story – I want to hear others’ stories.
Again, I have no problem in people wanting to be part of a union. However, that should never trump the Freedom of an Individual to work at a certain place in a given capacity – one should not have to pay a third party (a union) simply to put a roof over their family’s heads, food on their table, nor clothes on their back. I’m glad the decision came in time to help me from that union oppression and oppressive policies and contracts.
Right to Work: if you want to work in a union, fine. If not, that should be fine as well. I also think that Government should be participating at all in the process of being a union’s bill collector in the form of doing mandatory deductions from a union member’s paycheck – let the union collect its own dues and keep government out of the process (as it would have been in my case).
