Victoria Sullivan, the Candidate, the Mother, and the Legislator

Victoria Sullivan for Mayor of Manchester

So today Victoria Wojdylak Sullivan announced that she is running for Mayor in Manchester.  Let me tell you about Victoria so that you get an idea of the candidate, the mother, and the legislator.

I met Victoria several years ago and really got to know her when she served as Manchester’s State Representative on the NH House Ed Committee.

Since my focus is always on parental rights, literacy and, academic excellence, it’s always good to find someone serving in the legislature that has those goals as their priorities too. She does.

She not only voted on important legislation that supported parental rights, but she would also speak and fight for parents too.

Not only did she vote for legislation that tried to stop the dumbing down of Common Core in the schools, but she’d also speak and fight for parents too.

Her focus wasn’t on pleasing special interest groups; it was on improving public schools for YOUR kids.
Since her kids were in the Manchester public schools, she saw first hand the problems that plague public schools. I didn’t have to explain what wasn’t working; she could see it. When I offered her solutions to some of these problems, she’d get it immediately.

Have we always seen eye to eye on every issue? NO. There are those rare occasions when we disagree. BUT, she always listens. When someone truly listens and, when that issue presents itself again, she has another perspective to consider.

Take a look at Victoria Wojdylak Sullivan’s VOTING record and you will see that you don’t have to hope and wish for someone to fix a problem; she has already been involved in ways to fix them.

Joyce Craig has Failed This City

Joyce Craig, current mayor of Manchester, is a complete disappointment in terms of education. She has done nothing to address the many problems parents have brought forth in terms of how the schools need to be fixed.

BULLYING, END COMMON CORE, NEED FOR TEXTBOOKS, and the list goes on and on.

How do I know what the Manchester parents want/need? Because I asked them.

Manchester Proud, a community organizing political group dismissed the concerns of Manchester parents who want desperately for their kids just to have math textbooks! Instead, they said they would rather pay $30k to another out of state organization that pushes Common Core on schools. They paid $30k in DUES so Manchester could join Council of Great City Schools (CGCS)

CGCS is a political organization funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to “promote and coordinate successful implementation of the new common core standards in major urban public school systems nationwide ”

The Gates Foundation lists CGCS as a partner on their web site.

CGCS’s political objective has a clear bias which runs counter to what scores of parents said they wanted for their children in Manchester during the debate of the Manchester Academic Standards.

Joyce Craig has cheered Manchester Proud’s attempt to community organize behind failed federal reforms coming through national organizations who have never talked to a Manchester parent frustrated by what is happening in their school district.

Joyce Craig is failing the children in Manchester. This isn’t an on the job training session. She should have come to this job with the goal of improving public education in the city. Punting that responsibility to Manchester Proud isn’t a plan, it’s a sign of failed leadership.

I’d say to anyone living in Manchester, check out Victoria’s campaign.

You may not agree with everything, but you have someone who is committed to addressing the problems that exist through real knowledge of the problems and ways to fix them.

Best of Luck Victoria Wojdylak Sullivan.
