No use hiding it, right? The likely Never-Trump ‘Republican’ challengers are not better than Biden. Sure, Larry Hogan (if he runs) is a home run for Republicans in Blue-Maryland, but in Texas, he’s a Democrat who’d be competing with Biden for the same voters. Bill Weld as well.
But to openly support a Democrat over even a lousy Republican? I guess the McCain family has been “Biden” their time on that cold edge of darkness.
John McCain ruined his service to his country by decades of disservice that followed it. As I noted here when promoted to say something about his passing,
I bear no ill will upon the dead, nor upon his family. I pray for his soul. My heart goes out to his friends, and colleagues. People who knew him, loved him, and will miss him.
But whatever John McCain was as a younger man he became something else later in life. He became destructive to the very thing for which we assume he served. The thing for which he is so often remembered. His thinking it was the right thing to do does not make it so.
In this century Clan McCain can barely claim to be RINOs. A journey that ends with Sen. John’s complicity in the attempted coup of a sitting president by colluding with Democrats and the media in the support and dissemination of the Steele Dossier and every Russian disinformation campaign lie in it.
All of which makes this report underwhelming.
Sources close to both Biden’s presidential campaign and the McCains said that at some point during the White House race, McCain’s widow Cindy, 64, and daughter Meghan, 34, a host on “The View,” will offer their public support in the hope of removing Trump from office in 2020.
Doesn’t mean much anywhere but in Arizona but is it enough to make a difference there? No idea. McCain money drives the party so there will be plenty of quiet support. But elections are still private affairs. Events that continue to confound beltway insiders and their media homonculi to fits of rage.
All of which may amount to nothing. Biden has to beat Bernie and while he’s got the best chance and Obama’s campaign people, he ain’t no Obama. He’s a creepy old white guy (like Bernie) with personal space issues and not nearly enough left-wing cred to beat the Sanders in a primary race.
The DNC will neat to cheat Bernie again.
Of course, we all know how that turned out last time.
