Leftists: (Please) Divorce Your Abusive Spouse

by

by Jon DiPietro:

The two biggest news stories in the past four years have been the 2016 election and Russian collusion. In both cases, the Left were led to their metaphorical slaughter by a mainstream media who fed them a steady diet of deliciously satisfying lies. In both cases, conventional wisdom has proven to be not just wrong but shockingly and embarrassingly wrong. In both cases, a smugness pervaded everyday life across this country that made people reluctant to express any skepticism for fear of becoming a social pariah.

They wagged their finger at us when we criticized the “fake news” media, lecturing us about the Fourth Estate and mindlessly chanting, “Democracy dies in darkness.” The mainstream media is no longer a counterweight against authoritarianism (if the ever were). They have been proven beyond any reasonable doubt to be activists for one political side against another.

My question for the Left is, “How’s that workin’ out for ‘ya?”

How many biannual walks through the Kübler-Ross stages of grief will it take before you realize that the media is not doing you any favors? How many times must Lucy pull the football away before you realize she is using you?

I don’t ask this question because I want to help stop Leftists from lighting themselves on fire. I ask because this is tearing our country apart.

Like it or not, we are partners in this business of running the United States of America. And we on the Right have been watching our business partners suffer in an abusive relationship in which their spouse is emotionally and financially abusing them and causing them to make horribly poor business decisions.

“Come back! I promise I won’t hurt you again. It will be different this time. Remember how good I make you feel? This time, I promise it won’t end with you crying.”

But everyone outside of the relationship can see what’s happening and knows how the story ends. Every. Single. Time. Your spouse needs some tough love right now. You need a divorce. It’s the only way for you to get healthy and for them to have a chance of waking up to their problem.

Democracy Dies in the Desert, Too

Truth has been the greatest casualty of the Internet era. Yes, echo chambers exist on both sides. Yes, we all suffer from confirmation bias. But only one side owns 90% of the mainstream media and academia. In both of those institutions, objectivity is disappearing, and a terrifying acceptance of censorship and indoctrination is taking hold.

The Washington Post adopted the slogan “Democracy Dies in Darkness.” This was a smug and tone-deaf move to elevate their own status by foisting upon us a false choice between their version of the truth and fascism. While Democracy can certainly die in darkness, it can also die from the heat of a relentless desert sun that desiccates the truth to a point where it dries up and sinks into the sand.

We all had better start caring about the truth and protecting free speech or else the number, frequency, and severity of these deceptions will only increase. The Left is in an abusive relationship with the media and for all our sakes, you need a divorce.
