Weld, in a statement, responded, “I am happy to tell her what millions of her own party are thinking. ‘This guy’ has been the most destructive and divisive president in the history of our nation. ‘This guy’ has demeaned Americans from every walk of life, including women, the disabled and veterans. ‘This guy’ has embraced dictators and tyrants and nearly destroyed relationships with some of our closest friends around the world.
“If the chairwoman would like to understand why anyone would primary the president, I am happy to tell her. It’s because this corrupt, narcissistic guy is on a sure path to destroy our party and our nation. And for the good of future generations, ‘this guy’ must be stopped. Primaries should be decided by the people, not the party.”
Problem is, even some of the NeverTrumpers are now OhNeverMinders (like Erick Erickson of The Resurgent). Thus, that faction of the Party will be increasingly smaller as time goes by; winning that faction will be of little consequence. But hey, everyone should have their shot at the Brass Ring, right?
Now, if Bill Weld would like to expound upon that with we Groksters, well, consider this an invite. In 2016, we were all over the map with various Groksters supporting a number of candidates (and we did have a Grokster that I would have called a NeverTrumper) even though GraniteGrok ended up supporting Ted Cruz.
