Filthy, Crime-Ridden, Democrat-Run Cities Take Next Obvious Step in Their Decline

The majority of crime in the U.S. occurs in a handful of cities. Urban plantations run (into the ground) by decades of Democrat ‘leadership.’ Laboratories of modern liberalism that are the Democrat Party promise to the rest of America.

It is a plan that has to include decriminalizing behavior their policies created that they are incapable of policing.

Democrat anti-gun laws create more violence. Their welfare programs trap people at the bottom. Their culture war is destroying the family, women, and children. Public education is a miserable failure as kids graduate without even basic skills. Their immigration policies subject Americans to diseases we had conquered. Their economic policies lead to homelessness or invite them.

American cities are becoming rat-infested dumps littered with a zombie army of unemployed, displaced people. A problem their expensive, bloated governments can’t handle. Rife in illegal acts, they have decided they may no longer police.

The Denver City Council has voted unanimously to decriminalize a number of offenses, including defecating in public. Also, urinating in public. Camping on public or private land without permission. Panhandling. And lying across public rights-of-way, such as sidewalks.

Some Libertarians will be excited to hear that in places like San Francisco, the public poop capital of the West, people shoot up in the street in front of cops and no one says boo. To help that along the city provides the needles, another brilliant liberal idea.

There’s just one problem – well, more than one – despite spending an extra $1.8 million last year in an effort to retrieve needles, the San Francisco Chronicle reports that the department handed out about 2 million more syringes than it got back… many of which are now washing around the streets of one of the richest cities in America (along with the feces of their users).

Point that out the next time Democrats fret about “plastics” in the environment — disasters which the Socialist-Democrat government facilitates through its supposed empathy.

And San Francisco is generous. It offers street people food stamps, free shelter, train tickets and $70 a month in cash.

We saw this Coming

None of this should be new or surprising. These bastions of progressivism have copied a pattern from their leftist European thought leaders.

To borrow from Theodore Dalrymple, who has long written about such declines in England and Europe. These welfare states have a profoundly corrupting effect on the human personality. While creating rigid economic and social systems that are resistant to change.

People become slaves to the system. One where crime is the only means of economic elevation. In an environment where the definition of illegal activity has to blur because the state that created it can never be capable of policing it.

The result is a systematic decline into urban filth and chaos. One in which many a disarmed middle-class patron finds themselves trapped. Not just victims of the Left’s social engineering but its facilitators; without their income to pillage, the entire project will collapse.

It is the unspoken promise of the Democrat Party’s preferred form of government. And we can see it waiting to spread like an infection.

It’s Always About Them

Do not be fooled by Democrats claiming to be concerned about rules or the rule of law. These are rhetorical flourishes — slights of hand. Misdirection to distract you from the reality of policies whose effects are on full display in places that used to be more beautiful, inviting urban wonderlands.

City-states, in the hands of Democrats, are reduced to diseased garbage heaps of slaves to a not-so-benevolent government playing social-engineering games with human lives to make themselves feel better. And always to keep them in power.
