When State government overtaxes, overspends and overregulates it causes great damage to families, communities, and businesses. That has happened in other states, especially in New England, and I don’t want to see that happen here in New Hampshire. Our citizens deserve better! I will work hard to protect our Constitutional rights and for Granite Staters to keep more of their hard earned money! The three most important issues I believe are Taxes, 2nd Amendment Rights and Quality of Life. Our pursuit of liberty and our “Live Free or Die” attitudes are what make our State really remarkable and contribute to our ranking as one of the best places to live.
I will vote against any state income tax or state sales tax proposals. I think our State needs to budget its money carefully just like every family in this State deals with their own limited income. We need to spend funds more wisely and for example, not raid education money for other projects or to balance a budget and then cry that we have no money to fund our schools.
I will vote to preserve 2nd amendment rights, and I will not support any bill that will interfere with a person’s right to legally own or operate a firearm. I will not support any legislation that is unconstitutional whether it has to do with the right to bear arms or any other right that we as a nation enjoy.
We do not need to adopt useless and senseless legislation because other states do it or because some millionaire in another state thinks it’s a good idea for New Hampshire.
I believe that people live in our small towns because of the history, charm and relative peace and quiet. I believe the quality of life for these towns is important to maintain and that State government needs to stop burdening our towns with unfunded mandates and other legislation that dictates how we live our lives. State government needs to refrain from taxing more and requiring more from our towns.
Our kids deserve a great education geared to THEIR needs. Public schools are a necessity and should be funded as well as we desire and can afford, but I firmly believe in school choice and allowing families to decide how to best educate their kids. We homeschooled our three children through high school, and they even attended college courses at age 15 while homeschooling. They are now all employed in fields they love and living successful, independent and busy lives. The truth is that there are so many education possibilities in today’s technological world that kids and their parents should be free to avail themselves of the varied choices and experiences to help them learn and grow. The world truly is our classroom, even for adults!
As a small business owner, I understand how legislation can prevent businesses from expanding, hiring and operating efficiently. We don’t need to burden business owners with more rules and regulations and time wasting paperwork. As an avid gardener and chicken owner, I understand the problems that small farmers face in our communities and the financial pressures they encounter. Every time a farm shuts down it is a blow to our towns, our local food availability and to the economic health of our agricultural community. We must support agriculture in our State. Farming is an essential element in our State and represents to me the essence of self-reliance and community.
