Merge The Departments of Education and Labor And Other Things To Make Liberals Mad

US-WhiteHouse-Logo.svgMr. Trump has some changes he’d like to make in Washington, and the Left is losing their mind.

The White House on Thursday announced its plan to merge the Departments of Labor and Education into a single Cabinet agency in order to reduce unnecessary bureaucracy and streamline overlapping regulations and department functions.

The two departments would merge into the Department of Education and the Workforce (DEW), aimed at “meeting the needs of American students and workers, from education and skill development to workplace protection to retirement security,” according to a White House outline of the plan.

“The new merged department would reduce unnecessary bureaucracy, streamline access and better integrate education and workforce programs, and allow the administration to more effectively address the full range of issues affecting American students and workers,” the outline read.

There is also a plan brewing to merge “the Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Services into the Department of Health and Human Services, renaming it the Department of Health and Public Welfare.”

The Washington Times adds,

In a presentation to the Cabinet, Mr. Mulvaney cited examples of bringing all food-safety regulations under the Agriculture Department, instead of sharing those responsibilities with the Food and Drug Administration.

“If it’s cheese pizza, it’s FDA, but you put pepperoni on it, and it becomes a USDA product. I mean, come on?” he said. “An open-faced roast beef sandwich is USDA, a closed-faced roast beef sandwich is FDA. Not making this up. You can’t make this kind of stuff up. This would only happen in the government.”

Democrats and unions hate it.

“Democrats and Republicans in Congress have rejected President Trump’s proposals to drastically gut investments in education, health care, and workers — and he should expect the same result for this latest attempt to make government work worse for the people it serves,” said Sen. Patty Murray, Washington Democrat.

The slimming down effort is also,

“an unprecedented power grab” that has nothing to do with improving the efficiency or effectiveness of government.

Right.

Conservatives, Libertarians, and Trump voters who include Independents and Blue Collar Democrats, all of whom believe the money they earn is actually theirs, should take these protestations as a sign that the proposals are good for them and America.

These far-left Democrats don’t like you. They call you names and are promising to raise your taxes. Now they are not just defending behemoth-bloated government they are opposing progress and change to make it more efficient.

Changes that free up resources for more important priorities than padding benefits for unelected and unaccountable desk jockeys and paper-pushers.

I say run on that Democrats. Do it.
