Gov. Hassan Hints At How Your Government Should Work

Most of us won’t be surprised by any of this, but in a press release dated February 10th, 2016, Governor Maggie Hassan–who wants to be the next US Senator from New Hampshire–demonstrated how she thinks government in Washington should work.

In a recent press release she expressed her dismay, as Governor, at the US Supreme Court interfering with the EPA’s implementation of the Clean Power Plan (CPP). After rambling on about New Hampshire, RGGI, and Clean Energy, she says,

That’s why I have been a strong supporter of the Clean Power Plan, and the Supreme Court’s decision to delay this important step forward is very disappointing.”

If only we could use those words to disqualify her for higher office.

As a candidate for US Senate it does not appear to concern her in the least that the CPP is an imposition of laws and taxes ON THE ENTIRE NATION without one single member of congress (no legislator, anywhere) having to cast a vote. Ever. No one has to take responsibility for the real-world economic impact of these regulations.

Is that Gov. Hassan’s vision for representative government should she win a seat in the US Senate? Maggie Hassan plans to hide behind regulators who do the dirty work while she attends lobbyist lunches, fundraisers, and makes time for press appearances at which she can express appreciation or concern over this or that, and promise to look into it, whatever it might happen to be?

And she clearly has no time for the separation of powers, where the judiciary has the nerve to halt executive branch action. How dare they allow a lawsuit brought by more than a few of the several states to question the authority of un-elected bureaucrats to impose taxes and fiscal burdens on the people of the nation. It’s very disappointing.

No, dear readers, this is not surprising, she is a Democrat. While Democrats are forever pimping the notion that they oppose outside interference, or are interested in the people, small business owners, or even fixing what it broken in Washington, we know these are lies, all of them, almost always, to the last.

Now, this could be damning in an election such as this. We have the Governor of a sovereign state honestly abdicating legislative authority to un-elected central planners. Gov. Hassan is expressing dismay that the judicial branch has stepped in, BECAUSE SHE LIKES AND SUPPORTS WHAT THE REGULATORS ARE DOING.

It is a refreshing (if not selective) admission of fealty to the regulatory state, but not damning, not for Hassan, at least not in this race. The Senator she wants to replace, Kelly Ayotte, has already expressed her own approval for abdicating that same authority on the same issue.

And yes, I think it disqualifies Sen. Ayotte for the office as well.

Given that there is no other challenger to Ayotte or Hassan, and no guarantee they’d be any better, in the end it is the taxpayers and citizens of New Hampshire who are damned. Left to choose between either of two sycophants vying for dibs on a bit part in the ongoing destruction of our Constitutional Republic.

And they wonder why people are bailing on the Republican establishment?

Statement from Governor Hassan on United States Supreme Court Action on Clean Power Plan

CONCORD – Governor Maggie Hassan issued the following statement on yesterday’s action by the Supreme Court of the United States on the Clean Power Plan:

“New Hampshire has long led efforts to cut carbon emissions and combat climate change so that we can have the cleaner and safer environment that our people need to live healthy, productive lives – and it’s crucial that other states follow our lead and take responsibility for the pollution that they cause. Through programs such as the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, our region is showing that it is possible to protect public health, spur energy innovation, and promote affordable, reliable energy sources for our economy.

That’s why I have been a strong supporter of the Clean Power Plan, and the Supreme Court’s decision to delay this important step forward is very disappointing.
