Reality Alert to the Ivory Tower:

Emphasis mine:

On Tuesday, New Hampshire adjunct professors stood outside Manchester Community College to protest the limit.

Some said the realization that the health care law they once supported is being used against them was a harsh reality to swallow.

Craig Lange is a member of the team that has been negotiating for a contract since the adjuncts joined the State Employees’ Association two years ago. When the health care reform law passed, he was with a group of adjuncts at a system board of trustees meeting.

We all applauded when the news came in that (the law) passed. . . . I didn’t think it would go this way,” he said.

This is what happens when Smart People support something that they didn’t read.  This is also what happens to Smart People when Government changes the rules of the economic game and the Smart People, who voted for the Democrats that drove this ObamaClunker over the Finish Line, failed to read the fine print and had nary a thought of merely clever people acting in their own interest. Which is to say, your bosses and your politicians that keep your bosses on a leash.  Welcome to the “new normal” of trickle down Obamaeconomics, boys and girls!  And just think of the irony – you all helped to grease the skids of your own healthcase and financial demise (as it were).

Sorry guys, but I have no pity at all; you own this outcome, YOUR outcome, just as much as Jeanne Shaheen, Carol SEIU-Porter, and Paul Hodes do.  After all, the Ivory Tower is just another outpost of the Liberal Fantasy World (just as much as the MSM) – and Reality came knocking on your door.  Theory?  Bah!  Meet “the rubber hits the road” effect and recognize that YOUR.OWN.PARTY.MADE.YOU.ROADKILL.  Feeling betrayed yet?  Congrats – you’ve been screwed over by your own Progressivism.

Yes, you all have advanced degrees – probably a majority are doctorates – and you couldn’t game this out?  That you failed to think that other people wouldn’t react to the new regulations?  I’m surprised!    However, you are now finding that money is no respecter of higher learning and the folks that make it wish to keep it.  The Redistributionists you sent to DC tried to suspend the Laws of both Economics and Politics to reach the finish line of your Ideological race to have the State provide every goodie – including healthcare.

The broader public good was helped by the Affordable Care Act and we’re doing the best in the context of our limited budget and our focus on student success. Difficult decisions have to be made, and while we appreciate what the adjuncts bring to the community college system, we are focused on students, on our financial model, and in the context of decades of rising health care costs, you can’t just isolate this point in time and criticize what we’re doing, without looking at what’s happening across the country,” he said.

Guess that ‘free healthcare’ won’t be coming your way any time soon, eh?  Students first, finances second – and a throw away line about the “broader public good” (sure thing, System Chancellor Ross Gittell!).  Welcome to the real world of commerce out side of the Ivory Tower that the rest of us face – did you REALLY think that voting for Obama and his Supermajority in the US House and US Senate in 2008 was going to isolate you on the downsides?

Really – Smartest People in the room?

I’m thinking about that question…..but I will admit, doing so will be FAR easier than taking my oral exam…
