I look at the rate of increase of compensation for these Union heads and immediately starting thinking:
- Wow, there’s no “race to the bottom here” in these paychecks!
- Gee, all of these amounts come from – union members!
- Gee – have their respective unions grown in membership to warrant such remuneration?
- (er, no – union membership in the private sector is at an all time low)
- Have these same union members seen even a 25% increase in THEIR paychecks?
- And does the regular Joe Union-Member aware that they’ve dinged his paycheck to fatten their’s up this much?
- And regular does Joe Union-Member think that they are receiving that extra bang from putting the extra buck upwards into “overhead”?
Here in NH, all we heard during the Right To Work legislative battles that by not having a union, peoples’ paychecks would simply get smaller and smaller (with the idea that ONLY unions can get you a higher wage). Well, it is patently false – with one exception during the recession of the early / mid 80’s, I have always been able to negotiate better packages and most folks I know have done the same. Yes, recessions hurt and globalization is causing a re-structuring of economies all over and most folks are happy to have a job.
But with “Occupy”, we keep hearing all about the 1% and most of the unions went all in to support that meme.
Er, aren’t these Bosses living the large life of the 1% too? Are THEY traitors to the 99% of their union workers?
