Well, perhaps this is now a real Phase II of the Romney campaign – on the idea of “the fish rots from the head down”. We’ve been treated to a non-stop litany of the Obama campaign trying to paint Romney as their worst nightmare – and he is. A believer in the Free Markets (compared to Obama), one that believes in the Rule of Law (compared to the Obama Administration), and one that believes that you pull your own weight in Society (as opposed to the Entitlement Society promulgated at great cost by the Obama Administration).

AMERICA’S COMEBACK TEAM
Clever, and is effective at several levels:
- Proudly American. No nonsense of “fundamentally transforming America” into something that it has not been.
- Comeback – an “in your face” that what Obama has done with his simpering Socialist sirens has damaged America – that it needs fixing. A slap in Obama’s face in the vein of “Look what you have done to our country; We can bring us back (a la Reagan vs Carter).
- Comeback – Americans love underdogs, and to me, this signals that Romney / Ryan believe that they are the underdogs here (or wish, for PR purposes, to assume that mantle). They are inviting Americans to both root and help them.
- Change is needed – and is co-opting that from the Obama campaign. Comeback means you need to change what has gone wrong – and lays that at Obama’s alter to himself.
A clear choice between the Obama European style government centered vision for America’s future vs Romney and Ryan’s more American roots and actual philosophy. Comeback – who ever thought that Romney would try a bit of a Rocky theme and cast it over then entire disaffected country to bring in those unhappy with Obama?
