Tyranny Plain and Simple – Public Sector Unions

“Every lazy nation is grave; for those who do not work regard themselves as sovereigns of those who work.” – Montesquieu

For those who do not work regard themselves as sovereigns of those who do work.  This could not be more true.

It also occurs to me that this also applies to public sector union employees.  Do they not regard themselves as sovereigns of those who pay their wage?

They align themselves with a single political party–the one that advocates for their personal financial benefit.  In exchange the unions provide political power; a reliable voting block and a nexus for redistributing taxpayer dollars into campaign donations.  The unions gather to intimidate legislators and citizens under the cover of free speech and the right to assemble, always to the advantage of the left.  And people who are simply concerned with the cost and efficiency of their government, and the extent of its desire to confiscate their property, are accused of wanting more crime or ignorant children.  There is no limit to the accusations and intimidation.

In the current Presidential administration public unions enjoy massive financial favors at the expense of those who “work–in the private sector.”

Small municipalities cannot compete with national and international unions at the bargaining table.  And most have long since stopped trying, leaving generations of future residents tied to irresponsible promises that are almost impossible to fulfill; held at guilt-point to promises that would demand confiscatory taxation to meet.  Taxation that drives away jobs and business owners who know that even slight objections could result  in union intimidation, boycotts, personal attacks, and intense negative media scrutiny–because the media is on the side of the left as well.

This is tyranny, plain and simple.

“Every lazy nation is grave; for those who do not work (in the private sector) regard themselves as sovereigns of those who do.”

This cannot be allowed to stand.
