Data Point – So, are Americans grooving on Public Education Schools

No, Teachers’ unions, you are not the “be all end all” you might think that you are.  In fact, not even close.  Gallup is saying that the jig is up – and getting worse.  I’m afraid that your claims and rhetoric about the mission of public education, and that your emphasis that the ONLY way to educate our kids is in the Public School system has been found wanting for quite some time:

The chart says no one believes you much anymore.  The overpay and overly generous benefits contrasted with actual results in your product (educating our kids) is leading the public to no longer believe the old meme of one room schoolhouse marm with the apple on the desk.  The unions, AFT-NEA, have seen to that with their political plays and straying from the main mission.  More and more, because of your actions, people are looking for alternatives and the growth of charter schools, home schooling, and online schools are only proving my point (and the utter panic that unions are showing towards these alternative are helping to prove the point that the monolithic public education is in big trouble in more ways than one).

Unions are about the status quo – or making more of it.  It seems that they are incapable of updating themselves (all they ever seem to say is “give us more money, and THEN we can fix it!) at all and recognize that technology is about to shatter their biz model.  Results from Wisconsin are proving this right.

So Union Leaders, whatcha gonna do?  This is no longer a PR problem (and you missed that time slot long ago anyways) – you have a serious problem with the folks that pay your salaries.
