When we go to almost all of the events that we cover, we are welcomed by the event hosts, they make sure we have what we need, and then we get to work and do the live streaming, the interviews, and the recording that we feel is part of our straight citizen journalism. We don’t look for pats on the back, we don’t look for the showers of praise – we do the best we can, are grateful for the access, and always try and thank the hosts for allowing us to be at the event.
What we never expect is get singled out at any event for what we do – and I have to say that when it happens, it’s a bit of a “blushing moment” (at least for me). And this past Sunday at the Rye Republican Town Committee, Jeff Chidester (ably conducting the event as Master of Ceremonies) did just that – twice (although I was very happy for Mike Rogers as he certainly deserves all of the accolades and praise that was given (and more!)!
