Well, to make the play here, take a gander at Mitt Romney’s self-declaration when he was running for a different elected position:

Now, certainly people change over time, but is yet another showing of Mitt Romney’s willingness to be pragmatic (re: what has to be done to get elected?).  I understand “shading a position” depending on the audience – very common practice.  Or, as politicians like Mitt have been finding out the past few years, a common practice that yields negative outcomes now that the Internet has become the disruptive technology in politics.  No longer can a pol or the staff control the message entirely when a “past” is present.

So, which is it now – true to your word about being a progressive then, or a conservative now?
