Proud of President Obama

For the first time in my life I am finally proud of President Obama!!

President Obama stood up for the gay soldier who asked a question at the last Republican debate.  It is so rare that President Obama or any leftist shows respect or says anything positive about our soldiers, that we need to recognize and appreciate it when it happens.

Yes, I would have been prouder of him if President Obama had actually defended our soldier from a real slander, derision, or attack.  For example, if someone had actually “boo’d” the soldier, then I would have been more proud of him.  Since President Obama presents a false picture suggesting that our soldier was “boo’d” when he wasn’t (it was the soldier‘s question that got a few “boo“s), that takes away from the recognition President Obama deserves.

I would have been prouder still of President Obama if he didn’t use our soldiers as political pawns.  Because the Democrat controlled Senate has refused to pass a budget for more than two years, government funding is being authorized by continuing resolutions.  When Republicans tried to rein in President Obama’s irresponsible spending demands, President Obama threatened a government shutdown and the withholding of salary, disability and death benefits, and other payments to our soldiers, even those in combat with dependent families.

I guess soldiers shouldn’t feel singled out since President Obama also threatened to have social security payments withheld.  Apparently payments for foreign aid, bureaucrats, subsidies, bailouts, pork barrel spending, and President Obama’s travel, etc., are all higher priority to President Obama than paying our soldiers and seniors.

I would have been prouder still of President Obama if he changed the military’s rules of engagement so that our soldier’s lives can be saved even if saving them exposes to possible harm some people who are not clearly engaged, at that moment, in trying to kill our soldiers.  But the rules of engagement remain unchanged, unnecessarily causing the deaths of American soldiers.

When you consider that leftists usually deride, criticize, try to reduce the funding that keeps soldiers alive (remember that President Obama suggested withdrawing government medical care for wounded soldiers), and call our soldiers degrading names:  “baby killers”, “murders”, “stupid”, “terrorists”,  etc., we need to recognize any leftist who shows even the least respect for our soldiers.

So, even though he lied about the situation and was trying to gain political advantage by his comment, we need to say, “Thank you, President Obama, for standing up for our soldiers.“  Hopefully President Obama’s small indication of respect for our soldiers will grow into something real.
