One  DoE affected by the Shutdown™, the Department of Education, not to be confused with the Dept. of Energy, has a $70 Billion dollar budget it spends primarily on nothing that has anything to do with teaching children.  (It is, as are most federal agencies, an Oasis for lobbyists, rent-seekers, and the handing out of indulgences.)  So it is not surprising that Obama’s Shutdown of the government would reveal just how much waste is being reduced by keeping these pencil pushers out of the office.

Ninety-five percent of the Department of Education’s staff is deemed “non-essential.”  They have been furloughed.  Given a stay-cation. As in stay home tax-dollar-wasting pencil-pushers.

And lucky for us….they are not alone.

Did you know that House Republicans sent three Continuing Resolutions to the Senate before the October Deadline?

And did you know this as well…

The Republicans in their CR to fund the government expressly reiterated that Members of Congress and their staffs, as well as the President and Vice President and top Obama Administration political appointees, would all be subject to Obamacare in the Exchanges under the same rules as they have imposed on everyone else. But every Democrat in the Senate voted against that and in favor of the special exemption from Obamacare for themselves in the process of unpeeling and rejecting the Republican CR to fund the government.

Harry Reid has blocked every budget for four years running.  The Democrat Senate has obstructed every effort to manage the fiscal needs of the nation in an orderly manner.  The only things that get action are politically driven, press-headline grabbing, last minute, temporary resolutions and machinations about raising the debt ceiling.

If you call 911 before there is an “emergency,” or more to the point, in the absence of one, you can get in a lot of trouble.   You can even be charged with a crime.  (Even if McDonald’s is out of McNuggets.)  So 911 does not exist to secure your property or person.   911 does not prevent a mugger, a robber, a burglar, a rapist, or a killer.  That is left entirely up to you.

911 is there so that after the emergency or crime is already in progress, after it has been committed, or discovered, someone can come and catch “the end of the movie.”  That “official” someone can take notes and pictures so that what is now recoded history might lead investigators toward preventing a repeat of whatever has already happened to you and potetntially catch the person responsible.

This is the Democrat parties safety net for you and your family.  Highly paid, well-armed stenographers.

The same bureaucratic group-think responsible for the long term suspensions of children playing with toy guns on private property, chewing pop-tarts, pointing pencils, playing make-believe (see list after the jump), is the same buraucratic mind-set that will be “manageing” your health care–and by extension your quality of life, your aging parents and grandparents lives, childrens lives, everyone.

Why you would let these people manage more than absolutely necessary is beyond me; why you would let them run your health care, and by extension your quality of life, is just insane.

Patient advocates say the exclusion of one of Missouri’s top hospital systems from policies offered by the region’s biggest insurer under the Affordable Care Act could hinder treatment for some patients and force others to switch doctors.

The network for the Anthem BlueCross BlueShield plans, which will be sold through Missouri’s “Obamacare” marketplace, does not include BJC HealthCare and its 13 hospitals — among them Barnes-Jewish Hospital, the area’s premier academic medical center, and St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

Arbitrary regulations established in the Democrat Parties signature health-care overhaul (more like a brutal mugging) has just clipped big Bird’s wings.

Employees at Sesame Place, the Pennsylvania theme park base on the children’s television show, will be getting their hours reduced because the cost burdens forced on the owner and their insurer, by the Democrats health care mandate, make keeping current hours and coverage impossible.

Ernie, Burt, Big  Bird, and everyone else, or at least the people who dress up as these characters, will not just be earning less, they will be dumped into the state insurance exchange, whenever it is that the thing will actually be up and running.

On Tuesday a new anti-self defense law will take effect in Maryland.  The law bans 45 types of firearms–current owners can keep the ones they already own (for now), and limits magazines to 10 rounds.  Most of the weapons are (I beleive) rifles, AR’s, you know, whatever looks scary to a Democrat.  But a number of groups have filed for an injunction as part of a suit to overturn the law.

Democrat Governor Martin O’Malley–the guy speaking at this years NH Democrats Marxist Clambake–(someone the NH Dems had speak at their state convention last year), thinks it will make his state safer.
