GrokSHOT! – School Lunch Mao Suits

Kids, cafeteria managers, Parents, and even school officials are rebelling against centrally planned lunch menus that cost more, taste less, leave kids hungry, and fill up landfills.  Yet that is what the ‘experts decree.  Makes you wonder how we were so successful before they came along and ‘fixed it?’ (Note to progressives: Danger – There … Read more

GrokSHOT – Getting Your Panties In a Wad

One of our favorite commenters is Chris P. Bacon.  We like him because he has a way with words and he takes no prisoners.  He is also ready to take on anyone on any side of any issue, and he does.  He comments on conservative and progressive sites; and he has an observation to make … Read more

GrokSHOTS! – We Need a Law

California passed 11 new anti-gun laws after Sandy Hook.  When Elliot Rodgers, wielding knife, gun, and BMW, decided to kill, none of that mattered. The left’s answer to this, and everything, is that we need a law (another law) that will only disarm the law-abiding and reduce them to victims of crazy folks and evil-doers, … Read more

The Obama Five-Step Response To a Scandal

It’s the Obama Five-Step.  (Everyone dance!) Kimberley Strassel of the Wall Street Journal, among others, has identified the administration’s predictable five-step response to a scandal: Step One: Say “We had no idea.” Step Two: Express great outrage. Step Three: Fire some low-level employee. Step Four: Announce a review, a study, or an investigation; deny any … Read more

Another Global Warming Myth Needs To ‘Evolve’

First it was no snow, and then it was yes snow.  We’d have extreme heat and no winters, but then it was to cause freezing cold and longer winters.  Rising seas, maybe not.  The Polar ice caps would melt except when they grew.  Tornadoes would happen except when they didn’t.  We’d have more forest fires, or maybe now it’s less.  And hurricanes–which were to be more frequent and severe–will now have to be re-globalwarmitized to be “fewer and less severe.”

Carol-Shea Pay to Play?

Take some money and give it themLast week on GrokTALK! I remarked on a site that tracked donations to votes in congress and how New Hampshire Congress Person Carol Shea-Porter had a remarkable record.  Remarkable in that 93 percent of Carol-Shea Pay to Play’s votes could be correlated with cash donations to her Campaign within 30 days of her vote.

Out of 1227 tracked votes only 93 of them were cast counter to the interests of a donor who gave money within 30 days of the vote.

A complete list is on the jump.

About That Rising Latino Star…

Last Friday Skip took a few minutes to respond to James Pindell’s weekly NH Political Standing report.

Skip asks…

Isn’t it racist to think that just because someone has a Spanish derived surname that they should be able to  speak Spanish?

Being a part of the fourth branch of government might provide Mr. Pindell with a waiver on that, but does he get  waiver on this?

“If you watched Marilinda Garcia, the national Latino rising star, on CNN en Español to check out her Spanish speaking skills… well the station uses an interpreter because she speaks in English.

James refers to Marilinda as a “national rising latino star…”  Latino.  Marilinda is (I believe) half Italian, and half Hispanic.  The latter would, at best, make her a rising Latina star, which might have more weight to it if she actually spoke spanish.  Latino just seems a bit out of place.
