Co-founder of GraniteGrok, my concern is around Individual Liberty and Freedom and how the Government is taking that away. As an evangelical Christian and Conservative with small "L" libertarian leanings, my fight is with Progressives forcing a collectivized, secular humanistic future upon us. As a TEA Party activist, citizen journalist, and pundit!, my goal is to use the New Media to advance the radical notions of America's Founders back into our culture.
After all, some who were self-reliant and were paying for their own health insurance will now be put on the Public Dole (H/T: NetRightDaily with extra visages owned by their owners)
A man was telling his buddy: “You won’t believe what happened last night. My daughter walked into the living room and said,
‘Dad, cancel my allowance immediately, forget my college tuition loan, rent my room out, throw all my clothes out the window, take my TV and my laptop.’
“Please take any of my jewelry to the Salvation Army or Cash Converters. Then, sell my car, take my front door key away from me and throw me out of the house.
Then, disown me and never talk to me again. Don’t forget to write me out of your will and leave my share to any charity you choose.”
“Holy Smokes,” replied the friend, “she actually said that?”
“Well, she didn’t put it quite like that. She actually said,
After all, Obama has now TWICE raised over $1 Billion for his elections. And now libs are giving more to Super-PACs than conservatives: Nearly three dozen individuals and groups made donations of $500,000 or more to super PACs in 2013, pumping $62.6 million into these super-charged committees that can spend unlimited amounts to influence elections. … Read more

Jr. Partners of the Democrats. Lesser Keepers of the Welfare State. Politics over Principles. “Looking out for our Own Political Asses since we lost our way back in 2000’s”. And with the news of the tremendous expansion of the Welfare State by Chuck Morse with Democrat leader Larson, what are we in the grassroots to think? We work for these folks, we spend our money for these folks, and we vote for these folks. And what do we want from these folks?
Simple: write and vote for legislation that carries out the Republican Platform that you gave assent to. Act like the Conservatives you told us you were. How hard can that be?
Obviously, too hard – yet you demand that we continue to support you, regardless. Or is that more along the lines of “taking our votes for granted, for you have no where else to go”? Really? Ask Frank Guinta how that worked out last time.
So, how DOES this agreement to spend LOTS of Federal tax dollars, make more people dependent on Government, enlarge the State’s bureaucracy actually conform to Republican Principles, NH State Senate President Chuck Morse (R)? I for the life of me cannot figure it out. It certainly does not conform to ANY definition of Conservatism that I am aware of. However, we do have a rather good and Conservative Party Platform – let’s count ALL the ways you have shredded it. From the NH GOP Platform (not that it seems to matter much anymore):
We, the people of the New Hampshire Republican Party, do stand united in our dedication to preserving freedom, limited government…
We believe that the New Hampshire and United States Constitutions were written by our forefathers to limit our government
Sandra Fluke Aborts Congressional Bid Good thing she didn’t demand that we had to pay for her actions….though on this subject, many might have voluntarily forked some over…. She’s aiming lower – CA State Senate. You know, that’s OK with me – stay in a state that already reflects your ideology and morals and stop … Read more
Over at TreeHugger is a post where the authoress, Katherine Martinko, has decided that having a carbon footprint is not a sufficiently heavy hammer to use on the rest of us “unenlightened” to get us to change our ways (or have Government change our ways for us). Nope, now she is adding another hammer: water footprint. How much that you consume uses up our precious water – you selfish person, you!
…Beverages:
1 gallon (3.8 litres) of milk requires 880 gallons (3,331 L) of water.
1 gallon of wine requires 1,008 gallons of water.
1 gallon of coffee requires 880 gallons of water. “If everyone in the world drank a cup of coffee each morning, it would ‘cost’ about 32 trillion gallons (120 billion cubic metres) of water a year.”
Ah yes, Political Correctness can run amok – and this demonstrates that the wielding of the Political Castration club can and is used by both sides of the aisle. And frankly, it is becoming quite boring. In fact, I really wasn’t going to say much about this until I read this: “We really are a … Read more
This is just as valid now as when I first stumbled across it back on 5/26/2011; the money graph (emphasis mine):
“I ask him what, precisely, he thinks is the proper role of government as it relates to business.
“Invisible,” he says. “I know there are things the government has to do. But they need to find a way to do them without people like me having to bump into a new regulation every time we turn a corner.” He reflects for a moment, then finds the analogy he seeks. “Government should act like my assistant, not my boss.”
Indeed. The previous part of the post talked about the uncertainty that Big Government keeps creating – why the middle sized business owner won’t hire new employees, won’t expand to new locations, what kinds of regulations are going to be forced upon him (including those that make the claim “Oh, this will be less expensive for you to do it this way over the long term”). In fact, he brought up something that I used to think about all the time when I used to sign the front of my payroll checks (going to employees):
Another “saved from the Drafts” of 3/9/2011 – I have to admit, this is a great truism: The feminist revolution began as a necessary reform movement, but unfortunately evolved into a marxism-imbued, revolutionary one. Second-wave feminism’s focus soon shifted from women’s equal rights (which are limited to those defined by law) to women’s interests (which … Read more
The recent shooting at the mall in Columbia, Maryland (another “gun free” zone) is a tragedy; three young adults dead. Katy Perry (a singer of some note, I’m told) had a couple of tweets on the subject of CHANGE!:
Change? “When will there be ACTUAL change?” Answer is rather simple in concept:
It isn’t just asking for change, Ms. Perry – what kind of change do you desire? Is it about the guns or is it about the people with the guns? If it is about the latter, the shooter was old enough to buy that shotgun legally (Vice President Joe Biden’s weapon of choice). No ill named “gun show loophole” was involved; there was not a private sale. The shotgun came from a Federally licensed FFL gun shop. He passed the background check. Remember, a shotgun is NOT one of those “scary black” rifles that are simply semi-automatics – a technology that is well over 120 years old. Nor a handgun.
Heh! According to a new survey by Insure.com, women say that attractive men tend to drive black Ford pickup trucks. The survey of 2,000 men and women asked what type, brand and color of vehicle are driven by the most fetching members of the opposite sex. Women ranked these styles as cars that attractive men … Read more
“among state prison inmates who possessed a gun at the time of [their] offense, less than 2 percent bought their gun at a flea market or gun show.”
Which says that the Democrats behind HB 1589 only purpose is to CONTROL people – not guns. Gun show loophole, gun show loophole, gun show loophole. That’s all we’ve heard the last couple of years as if it was a GIANT problem. Two percent says says Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns (whose members commit more gun crimes than concealed carry permit holders), Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America (who are willing to falsify the truth and contextof pictures), and Americans for Responsible Solutions. For probably NOT the last time:
There is no “gun show loophole” -Federally licensed dealers must and DO obey all Federal laws in doing background checks
Those laws do NOT apply to private citizens – no matter WHERE they are.
You all just continue to prove to the rest of us that:
You don’t trust ordinary people – that everyone’s actions must be approved and vetted by Government
just show that the Right to Private Property doesn’t exist in the Progressive World
“NBC does it again, this time through a Miami affiliate that broadcast a graphic (see above) that read: “Reprehensive Party of Florida.” You have to ask yourself what kind of culture there is at NBC News that makes staffers believe that dehumanizing Republicans in this way is okay. This isn’t a one-off. It is a troubling pattern that just never stops.”
Yes, the “objective” journalism shows it isn’t. Oh, they say the words, but after years of watching, the slanting against Conservatism is revealed by the framing of stories and packages, the stacking of the deck in having pro- and con- voices weighing in, and the stories that get no coverage at all. Frankly, think of them as the Obama equivalent in journalism – “faithfully executing” the law the stories that advance an ideology and ignore the others.
It’s often not much better in the Educational-Industrial Complex where the taxpayer supported denizens seem to have fallen in line with the Democrat / Progressive knee-jerk reactions to political outlooks that vary from their MotherShip – this from my local issues blog, GilfordGrok (once again), when voting was conducted at our middle school:
And remember, one of the “sainted” Progressives in the Progressive Hall of Fame wasn’t much of a civil rightist now, was he? All he did was to send us further in Viet Nam and micro-managed the effort to defeat and started the Trillions of spending on the War on Poverty that has done diddly to … Read more
