Over at The Blaze is a post about a Mom who watched the MTV VMA show – and saw it for what it was.  She has penned a letter (“penned” sounds so much better than “keyboarded”) and posted it on her blog. In essence, she is drawing a line in the sand for her daughter – and firing a shot against the Progressive values that have so much demeaned the value of self-respect and the value of truly knowing who you are.  Cyrus’s act perfectly shows the effect of the Progressive hard core emphasis on freedom of action (an adaption of Nike’s “just do it” – and do it all) and nary a word of self-limitation on moral grounds.

Remember Andrew Brietbart’s admonition to those of us who wish to change politics back to Constitutional values: “Politics is downstream from politics”.  Here is one Mom’s effort to change that culture for her beloved daughter:

Yes, this is what happens when you constantly hear everything you do is awesome. This is what happens when people fawn over your every Tweet and Instagram photo. This is what happens when no responsible adult has ever said the word “no,” made you change your clothes before leaving the house, or never spanked your butt for deliberate defiance.

Unlike Progressives that believe every 11 year old has a right to Plan B and the right for her teacher to bring her to Planned Parenthood, this Mom says “here is my line in the sand on your behavior”.  In fact, she goes on to demonstrate that her daughter’s decisions WILL have Mom’s consequences follow through .

I think a lot of Northeast Republicans were fairly happy when Scott Brown won the special election from “Marsha” Coakley  in MA to fill the Senatorial seat left empty upon the death of Ted “The Swimmer” Kennedy a few years ago now.  Occupying “the Peoples’ Seat” (as opposed to the “Kennedy Family Seat”), he pretty much met most expectations – not a Democrat, but not rock solid votes on Republican issues either.  Now, he’s making noises about running for election again – just unsure for what and from where (except for MA Guv, which was on the list but he just ruled out – maybe).  From NH, perhaps, due to his home out on the Seacoast?

Several people took note on him filling in – locally, Karen Testerman did (Note: Karen is an exploratory candidate for NH Gov).  Given that the Laconia Daily Sun only does “pictures of text”, that’s all I’ve got:

Herein is the difference between people like former Vt. Governor and former Presidential candidate Howard Dean (and pretty much the entire Obama Administrative political appointees and Obama himself).  As Daniel Webster noted “they mean to be masters” – even if they believe their hearts to be “good” and believe in their heart of hears that their motives are only to be seen as pure and “for the common good”.  See what I mean:

On health care, Mr. Cruz said Mr. Obama’s law is a “job killer” that has forced businesses to drop coverage or shift workers to part-time status. He said these changes have an outsized effect on the most vulnerable, including minorities and single moms.

Rising to an oft-repeated challenge, Mr. Cruz offered three health care reforms that Republican may support in lieu of Mr. Obama’ plan.

He said that Americans should be allowed to build up health savings accounts in a tax-advantaged way, that health coverage should be “personal and portable” and divorced from employment, and that consumers should be allowed to purchase health insurance across state lines instead of quarantining policy options to the individual states.

Howard Dean, former Vermont governor and 2004 Democratic presidential candidate, said interstate insurance options is the last thing he wants, arguing some states would pollute the policies that Vermonters and other states have built up and enjoy.

“I don’t want our people buying Texas health insurance,” he told CNN.

Note the totalitarian leanings of Dr. Dean: “I don’t want our people“.

The more you look at Obamacare, the more you see that the entire intent is to kill off another industry: healthcare insurance.  I stumbled upon this just a bit ago:

The problem with a 90-day grace period for premium payment is that at the end of it you must pay for three months of premiums, when you couldn’t afford to pay one month in the first place. A lot of people won’t be able to do that, but meanwhile they have been running around with an insurance card receiving health services.

What then? Who is on the hook for those services? HHS has decided to split the baby. The insurance company will have to pay for the first month of non-coverage, but providers (doctors and hospitals) will have to absorb the costs incurred for the second two months. That could be a whole lot of money. The (formerly) insured person will be canceled after three months, but they get to re-enroll again at the end of the year without penalty. (And we were told one of the purposes of this law was to solve the “free-rider” problem. Oh, well.)

Along with paying for services during the first month of the delinquency, the insurer must: 1) notify HHS of the non-payment; 2) notify providers of the possibility of denied claims during the second and third months; 3) notify the insured that he/she is delinquent; 4) continue to collect the advanced tax credit on behalf of the policyholder; 5) return the tax credit for the second and third month to the Treasury; 6) issue a termination notice to the insured at the end of the grace period. Oh, and the carrier must also determine whether the insured has a disability as defined by the Americans With Disabilities Act, and make “reasonable accommodations” for such individuals. These are pretty substantial administrative burdens, and the costs will aggravate the Minimum Loss Ratio requirement for the carrier.

So, how many people do you suppose will do this? I would wager just about everybody. Why not? You can get 12 months of coverage for nine months of premiums and suffer absolutely no penalty.

And just to make sure that this isn’t just the Senior set trying to run a con on them, Obama, Sebelius and the (dum-da-da-TUM!) Young Invincibles (aka the Center for Community Change, Washington DC) decided to get those creative type’s juices going and “send us a video” just like America’s Funniest Videos does (except AFV’s rewards, being a private capitalistic show, actually has decent money for prizes).

Socialism – the political system that REQUIRES propaganda in order to think that there is sugar in the medicine they’re jamming down the throat.

Oh, by the way, did you now know that that Obamacare has its own Obama corpse (Like the US Marine “Navy Corpsemen“)?

Hugh Hewitt (talk show host, author, lecturer, lawyer) has a column in the Washington Examiner today: “Is Obama the worst president ever?”

Since 1979 and the acquiescence of the transfer of Iran to religious zealots with world-enders and Hidden Imam-summoners among them, I didn’t think it was possible for an American president to be ranked below Jimmy Carter on the competence list.

But now we have Obama, with double the years that Carter had to more than double the wreckage of the Carter era. Obama is working on his place in history every day, and every day he is making that ranking more secure.

Earlier in the column, he reviews the cost and lies about Obamacare, the situation in Syria (re: Weapons of Mass Destruction).  Certainly there are a lot of areas in which we have pointed out where things are just upside down and rightside wrong with what this Administration has and is doing.  The key ‘graph in the piece is this:

Obama’s tenure is a vast desert of anti-achievement, a landscape of waste and ruin on every front at home and abroad, save on the ability to mobilize voters who don’t know or don’t care about the state of the country or the world.

I stumbled upon Duck Dynasty when it first started: a bunch of good old boys just having fun  – and getting fabulously wealthy at the same time.  And then I started to really watch past the beards, past the slapstick humor, and figured out that this was as conservative a show that there was on TV.  Guess that lots of people agree with me:

Political Correctness police (almost always Progressives as they seek to use this tool of Political Castration to move Forward their agenda of Cultural Marxism) do what they always do – find someone who has upset your sense of being and then DESTROY him – and that is what they did to that Rodeo Clown wearing the Obama Mask in Missouri.  They simply have no sense of humor when it comes to their LightBringer (the Warmists are the same way and so are the Race-Baiters).  It is never enough to simply issue a rebuke, not enough to hear an apology – they have to destroy that person personally and financially.  Make them and their family homeless? “Good! – but insufficient!”.  These are EVIL people who see everyone that disagrees with them politically as just “those that oppose me” but really view others as bad people at best and EVIL subhumans that must be put down at worst.  They got him banned for life – taking away his livelihood and effectively making him destitute.

All around him, former “friends” abandoned him to the tsunai of politics that engulfed him, fearful that some of it might rub off on him (e.g., like the DC Republicans are doing now – political cowards). Democrats went bananas (er, clown, rodeo clown, cowboys – get it: Bush??) and Republicans, not willing to stand up to the Democrats per satire and that Pesky First Amendment, lent the gravitas of their elected officialdom so as not have the Democrats throw the Race Card at them in the backwash.

The Progresive PCers must be all reaching for their Maalox after this:

Yeah, 35 years ago and 31 years ago was the last time I sat in front of a blackboard with a prof.  I do remember well that first weekend as a freshman and scurrying all over to get all the stuff I needed to get set up – including my books.  We all did – was on a freshman floor with all pre-med / bio and engineers guys – I immediately knew that competition was HERE as I heard their SAT scores.  So, these rules for the newbies seem to be as applicable now as they were then:

1. Arrive early.

2. There might be homework due.

3. Bring your laptop — if you can handle it.

4. Keep up with the professor.

5. Be prepared to actually work.

6. Have an open mind about your classmates.

7. Start taking notes immediately.

‘Course at that time, laptops didn’t exist – pen and paper were it.  Pretty much all the rest are right (take a gander over at the site for the commentary). And imagine the shock when I realized after the first day in the hardest subjects (Calc, Chem 101, and Bio 101) that I was already two chapters behind in each BEFORE the prof picked up a piece of chalk (yes, chalk – not even dry erasers).  They worked us hard (math prof, Dennis Burke, later became the Dean) – this was NOT like some colleges that weren’t much more than a paid second high school. And slide rulers ruled the day – calculators were still wicked expensive.

Sheesh, what maroons (Er, that would be BOTH Ed Mosca and Stephen LaBonte)!  A fake internet site during a campaign – what a NOVEL CONCEPT to think of.  I…I…don’t think anyone has tried that during a campaign before!  Shhh….don’t let ANYONE outside of NH get ahold of this idea, because, well, people might think….well, LOOK!

OH Wait!  That’s from another race!  My, could I think that one is not like the other??  Quick, Stephen, call up your crack investigators (hint – put up by the NRCC)!! As Moe Lane said: “Nice to see the GOP going on offense. Also… hasn’t the DCCC learned by now to secure the potential websites for its candidates? Tsk, tsk, tsk.”

Back to what LaBonte said time.  Moe’s advice would also apply to lawyers who wish to shove their clients into the middle of an election….that would be Ed Mosca, IMHO. Army to Rename XM25 Airburst Weapon

U.S. Army weapons officials predict that the long-awaited XM25 Counter Defilade Target Engagement weapon will be ready for fielding by late 2014. The weapon will be known as the M25.  “We’d take the X off,” Lt. Col. Shawn Lucas, the Product Manager Individual Weapons, said in an Army press release. “It’s no longer experimental; it’d be the M25.” XM25 is currently in the engineering and manufacturing development phase and not yet ready for fielding, Lucas said.

Army officials halted operational testing in of the shoulder-fired, 25mm airburst weapon in February after a soldier suffered minor injuries when the weapon “malfunctioned” in Afghanistan. The weapon experienced a double feed and an “unintentional primer ignition” of one round, Army officials maintain. The XM25 had already completed one 14-month battlefield assessment and was in the early stages of a second assessment when the double feed and primer ignition occurred during a live-fire training exercise.
