No, Duval didn’t call me, or other “extreme right-wing” bloggers” a Nazi – but Congressman Jim Clyburn (D-SC) did. Duval called out several groups in his application for a replacement armored tank (a new Lenco Bearcat) like Occupy NH, Sovereign Citizens, and Free Staters (and probably TEA Party and Second Amendment supporters went through his mind as well) thinking that these were people who presented a clear and immediate danger to Concord (like that tank would get lots of usage in a town of 43,000 – daily!  Weekly!  Monthly! OK, maybe one every couple of years when in years past, a few squad cars would have sufficed).  But no, he did not declare that this groups were Nazis or Nazi-like.

But Clyburn did meet up with Godwin’s Law and jetted right past it:

Democratic representative Jim Clyburn likened conservative media and websites to the propaganda outlets of Nazi Germany in a radio interview today. The South Carolina Democrat at first seemed to be going after the American media as a whole, but went on to target “extreme right-wing” bloggers for supposedly ginning up “manufactured controversies.”

Would he be talking about…..us?  Naw, not a chance!  Right Wing?  Patriots, for sure.  Extreme?  Only in that we want to return to real Constitutional values and not “manufactured” ones.  Really – calling Right of Center bloggers to be the same kindred kind as ….Nazis?

I don’t really much care if you are black, white, red, yellow, or purple with green polka dots.  Really don’t – perhaps it’s because being an engineer, I really only care about results.  Do you love your family, work hard to support them, are kind to your pets and other little animals, smile with your friends, charitable to those in need, and follow the law?  Are you a help to your community?  Do you think that MLK was right about being judged by the content of one’s character?

Or view people with a worldview that automatically says “the color of your skin demands that I think you are racist”?  This REALLY annoys me (emphasis mine, reformatted) as it seems that some are just plain stuck in time either can’t see that 2013 is not 1963 – or depend that they can persuade the rest of us that nothing has changed.  And it shows that racial profiling can go both ways:

No, not more of Obama or HHS Sebelius deciding that they are going to set aside yet another part of the law that they struggled so hard to pass.  Either they can’t meet the deadlines (even as they wrote the timelines), it is no longer politically expedient (even as only Democrats voted for it – remember Carol Shea-Porter (D-NH) and Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH)? No bi-partisanship here for this bucket of suck), or granting waivers that they have no authorization to give (but have to keep their political allies in line).

No, this is more of employers looking at their bottom line, in what is still for many a depressed economy in which margins are thin and thinner, and saying that we are going to cut our healthcare costs.  They did it by cutting hours for employees so as not to trigger either the cost of expensive healthcare policies created by Government mandate – forced by the Government to choose between their employees and bankruptcy.  And now, another bet that the Progressives are about to lose in crafting this looser of a nationalization of an industry – or are they?

A growing number of companies are looking to clamp down on rising health care costs by dumping coverage for their employees’ working spouses.

Others are requiring their workers to pay extra money to cover a spouse who could get health insurance elsewhere. And some may even consider making employees pay the full cost of insuring their children.

The moves are viewed as low-hanging fruit for companies that are expecting higher costs next year under the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.

…Excela Health, the owner of three hospitals in Westmoreland County, told employees this month that it would no longer provide health coverage to spouses who are offered insurance from their own employer, starting Jan. 1.

I remember when I started to read and my Mom brought me to the Campello branch of our city’s library – the kindly librarian took me under her wing and started showing me the kids area.  Well, that didn’t last long – I read a kids science fiction book and that started a tear through ALL of them in that branch including the adult books (with side trips into WW II history as well).   All the time, after she saw my selections (heh! during summer vacations, I could easily go through 5 – 10 books a week – yeah, ALL DAY LONG) and always had some suggestions at each visit – until pretty much, she had to admit that it was time to go to the main branch as I had tapped out the smaller one.  Nowadays, not so much.  It seems that libraries aren’t for reading books anymore – talks, games, trips, PCs, Internet, crafts, daycare, video games, music – and, oh yes, get you signed up for Obamacare; seemingly, they want to be everything but about books.

But to DISCOURAGE a kid from reading – a champion reader (emphasis mine, reformatted) ?

Parts of Obamacare have already been kicked to the curb (the CLASS act, the  $600 thresholds for 1099 reporting).  A number have been waived (illegally, I point out, for unions, “connected” cronies, training for the “navigators” has been cut along with background checks that would keep fraudsters out, the employer mandate and reporting, and a declaration that Congress is not subject to Obamacare like the rest of us) and some have been added (illegally, I point out, like the IRS now to provide tax credits for exchanges not run by the States).  And we have certainly pointed out that employers have been cutting full time employees to part time and cutting hours to part timers so as to not trigger the Obamacare costs of either healthcare or fines.  The government mandated state level exchanges where healthcare insurance is to be bought (I refuse to call them marketplaces because that would wrongly imply that there IS a true marketplace at work here)  themselves are running way behind time and way over schedule to the point where they might be reduced to paper and pen.  Doctors have already bailed on their practices to either become mere employees or wandering off to Galt’s Gulch (and we already are hearing noises that “other than doctors” will fill in the slack.  As I pointed out here and Steve just did here, combined with the above, it seems that Obamacare is falling , falling fast, and falling hard.  It seems that no matter WHERE one stands, it seems to be a house of cards that was erected on beach sand that is now collapsing into a sinkhole.

While many to most that have been against Obamacare from the get-go, thinking that it is the proverbial door shutting on our individual Liberties and Freedoms, are jumping for joy and like Steve saying “I told you so” at this chaos-in-process, I fear that this was figured out from the beginning  and well may have been only a milestone on the timeline.  Remember,

October 1 – the day that Obama and the Democrats finally unleash their nationalization of Healthcare and begins your dependency on Government for your healthcare.  We have always thought of ourselves as being the independent types – no longer.  Instead, we may well be in that position, to quote from Charles Dickens, “Please sir, may I have some more”?  Sure, the Democrats will say “No, that can’t be – we don’t own the hospitals, the labs and such!  The doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals don’t work for us”!  They would be right.

But if you can write the legislation that controls how healthcare is to be delivered (or not), the allowable procedures, how records are to be kept, and what the Government is willing to pay (and thus set the pricing) – well, let’s be honest.  If Government controls everything around it, they effectively own it almost more than the actual owners.  Those owners (be they profit or non-profits [heck, the Obama Administration also controls what profits can be made – and by whom] are just along for the ride.

Martha’s Motel – sign in, sign out.  Sign in, sign out; a veritable revolving door of political operatives at what almost seemed to be a “political operative barracks” for those folks coming in to work for Democrats – and then voting here in NH even as their plans were to leave to return to their own domiciles elsewhere in the US.  Well, in math, there is a theorem: if one then many.  Seems to hold true in the political realm too – where there is one political operative, there’s bound to be a whole bunch of them.  And if there is a singular Martha Fuller Clark Motel, well, there has to be more illegal voter nest.

(emphasis mine).  In the case of the NH Senate, they are 1/3 of the branches of government that can take power from the Individuals.  There has been no government in history that has not, over its entire time in existence, decided to gather more and more power into self.  The Founders knew that and tried to create a system and a philosophy that extolled individual liberties over that of “The State”.  They knew, I bet, that with any system, there would be those that would come along and disagree with that, probably vehemently.  After all, there are those that cannot resist the urge to obtain, and then wield, power over their co-citizens.

We call them Progressives,  Big Governmenters, or Statists and they exist on both sides of the aisle (under the guise of being “pragmatists”).  Of late history, there has only been one political leader that tried (and had some success) here in NH that has tried to roll back that accumulation of power into Concord (versus merely keeping the status quo), and that was Bill O’Brien. Now, with Peter Bragdon deciding to heed the calls to step down from being Senate President, a new one must be chosen.  Certainly, I believe that the “Establishment” would want someone like Senators Chuck Morse or Sharon Carson chosen.  I disagree, totally.
