Democrat Virginia AG just ideologically nuked out of state concealed carry reciprocity

holstered-gun1All by his lonesome from his perch in the Executive Branch. If you are from the States where your CCW was formerly recognized by Virginia, yer outta luck (emphasis mine):

Virginia attorney general Mark Herring (D, in case you were wondering) has announced that he will be severing Virginia’s firearms license reciprocity agreements with a slew of states. Herring, a Tennessee native who now resides in Fairfax County and enthusiastically accepted contributions from anti-gun plutocrat Michael Bloomberg during the election in 2013, apparently wants to do all he can to cut down on the number of Virginians and others who can legally carry a concealed firearm in the Old Dominion. According to the Washington Post, the list of states that have had the agreements severed include . . .

Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

The Corner had something in its post on this that caught my eye – and something that I’ve been blogging about for years:

So, the DC Republicans do this in my name? And you have to ask why I am leaving the GOP?

Breaking: Omnibus passes House 316-113; Update: Senate approves, 65-33

Ahem. It doesn’t take much leadership to push through a bill that the opposition supports and that Obama wants to sign. John Boehner could have done that. The huge expansion of H-2B visas alone should have killed this bill, especially with millions of American workers still sidelined from the Great Recession. …If anyone wonders why a demagogue like Donald Trump can dominate the Republican presidential primary race, this is Exhibit 492B.

Kelly Ayotte voted for it.  Frank Guinta against it.

Last week, the DC Republican Leadership demonstrated why they are feckless and why they are no longer deserving of our support (re: our votes).  Pretty much, it’s the same thing here in NH where the Concord GOP Mafia dons want our votes and then just want us to shut up.  Campaign promises?  Check.  Soaring rhetoric?  Well, no, but close enough – check.  Lots of requests for our money?  Check?  Great talking points about how Democrats are bad?  Check.  And of course, like Ted Cruz says, “campaign conservatives”?  Check.

Except they don’t ACT like it.

Laws of Economics know no national boundary; If it doesn’t work in the UK…

…why is it that so many Democrat / Republicans who think Open Borders /  low end immigration think that the Economy for our low skilled workers would fare better?  All we keep hearing is that all immigration will be great for our economy – so how come their home countries are basketcases?

MASS immigration has driven down the wages of British-born workers in low-skilled jobs, an official Bank of England report has confirmed.

The influx of EU migrants can lead to pay reductions of nearly two per cent in some industries including catering, hotels and elderly care, the research showed. Campaigners last night seized on the document as official confirmation that EU migration is undermining the living standards of the UK’s least paid workers.

Hmm, lowering of pay doesn’t sound all that great now, does it?  So why would Dems and Repubs both hate our poor by increasing our levels of immigration?  I always thought that a nation’s leadership was supposed to RAISE living standards, not intentionally lower them!  But then again, it seems politicians all over are the King Canutes of economics.

Does this make Bing Crosby an enabler of racism? Sheesh!

This really is the evil confluence of political correctness, racism around every corner and thing, and the obvious failure of our educational system.  Seriously, “White Christmas”? Is nothing sacred anymore?  (H/T: The Blaze)

Well, far be it for us to make Jeb! feel uncomfortable being #1!

I just shook my head in disbelief at what Jeb Bush said about his current polling position: “I feel much better back here” in fifth place polling single digits than I did as frontrunner Think about that hard.  He LIKES being in the pack and not leading the pack? You know, EVERY competitive person I … Read more

Notable Quote – Harold Demsetz

Woodrow Wilson fit this mold.  The Socialists of the Frankfurt School did as well. Beware the intellectual who seeks power over our decisions and over the persuasion to which we can respond, especially when he seeks this power to prevent us from doing what he thinks we should not desire to do. – Harold Demsetz (“The … Read more

Data Point – households in the US are richer

A smaller percentage of “the poor” A slightly smaller percentage of “the middle class” A much larger number of households (3X ??) at the top end. Looks like, all pundits and media aside, the US is richer now than what it was in 1967. (H/T: Cafe Hayek)

Notable Quote – Chan

From Weekend Pundit (emphasis mine): Voters are furious that Washington is ignoring them. The anger cuts across all party lines as a majority of the electorate think the US government is focusing on trivial matters rather than what Americans see as important – the looming threat of ISIS, a continually weak and handcuffed economy, bogus unemployment … Read more

Communitarianism vs Free Market

Crony CapitalismYes, once again I trekked over to Treehugger for a post that complained that IF Congress failed to renew the wind and solar tax credits, up to 100,000 jobs would be lost.  Well being the Free Marketeer that I am, I could not let that go and waded into the comments.  A couple of them here (emphasis mine).  For instance, the first one starts off on what seems to be OK – and then tanks:

Distortion is the idea behind subsidies. Never should an industry that is doing well and can continue on their own receive a subsidy. Instead industries that we want to have grow and flourish get subsidies.

And I could not wrap my mind about this next point:

Good question – go ahead gun grabbers, what’s your answer?

If advocates of stricter gun-control regulations are correct that easier access to hand guns necessarily leads to more violence committed with guns, why do we never hear of mass shootings (of people) at firing ranges?

Yes, there was the killing of Chris Kyle at a gun range.  That admitted, this question speaks to the normal operations at ranges rather than this unusual exception.  I’ve been to the range plenty of times and I find it to be one of the safest places to be.  EVERYONE is concentrating on safety because everyone knows that a lapse of focus can create a real bad day.

An observation on the state of American Education from a comedianne older than I

I read Powerline almost every day and on Fridays there is a post from Ammo Grrrll.  Usually a satirical post about something, I may not always LOL but I do oft smile at both the topic and how she treats it.  This one, however, wasn’t all that funny and cast a serious light as to why our stagnant and inertia bound education system fails – and refuses to see itself failing.  It’s not anything that I haven’t said or written previously; she just does a better job (emphasis mine):

THOUGHTS FROM THE AMMO LINE

Year after year here in our Dusty Little Village (DLV), the education establishment puts an initiative on the ballot to increase property taxes for schools. For eight years and counting, it has failed. It will fail again.

Most of us Geezer-Americans have scant interest in donating even more to educate half of Mexico or to fund all the Diversity Drones and special programs whose gentle ministrations crank out the annual crop of psychotic ninnies infesting our colleges.

It seems this is a feature, not a bug: Yalies sign petition to repeal First Amendment

Absolutely gobsmacking!  Here ARE the Elites-in-waiting at one of the most prestigious school in the world and here in America.  One would expect that these wonderkids would “get” our history, given how many Presidents, Congresscritters, and Supremes (and others in lofty places in American society) it has graduated.

Micro-aggressions, safe spaces, ability not to be challenged, trigger warnings – er, nope:

These precious snowflakes;  so blithely done! Meltdowns in 3…2….1 when these vacuum heads hit the real world and it sinks through that we don’t give a crap how insufferable and fragile your emotions are.  It does show, however, how far the Leftist rot that has so infiltrated

Disarmament

“Fear a Government that fears your guns“ It is clear that after the Democrat Presidential Primary Debate last night, the Democrats trying to be Numero Uno fear an armed populace.  Pretty much, I can’t think of a Socialist Government that ever has.
