Words have meanings, else why have them?
US Constitution, Second Amendment:
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
NH Constitution, Article 2A:
All persons have the right to keep and bear arms in defense of themselves, their families, their property and the state.
And yet, Democrats / Socialists keep believing that they can ignore those plain words.

I’ve pretty much stayed out of the “Trump is a conservative / no he’s not” mess that is raging in the part of the Right political blogosphere. Sure, I’m watching it as it is part of the messy sausage making process of who we end up have representing us. But I will say that the intensity, as we are mere weeks from the Iowa caucus and the NH Primary, has ramped up exponentially. And yes, behind the ‘Grok email closed door, it rages there as well – after all, we are an extremely opinionated bunch (er, that’s why you come to read us, right?).
I have endorsed Ted Cruz, so take this with a grain of salt. I have written about Trump in the vein of mostly praising him for bringing up issues that the Establishment Republicans just didn’t want have in the election (they assault their blue nosed sensibilities) even as we, their base, have consistently said they were important. We’ve been suffocated by the Left’s tool of politicial correctness even as the R elite cowered before it as well. And a lot of “Establishment Conservative Pundits” have fallen in front of this onslaught as well – saying something at time but certainly not full throated roars of attacking the Left attacker (except for us at the ‘Grok as you all well know). Give him credit where credit is due: Trump has ripped that shroud to ribbons and has run roughshod on the enables of the Left – the mainstream media. ‘Bout time somebody did.
He’s has said a lot of rough things, but I do believe that he has just had his Edwin Edwards moment (that corrupt Louisiana Democrat that famously said “The only way I can lose this election is if I’m caught in bed with either a dead girl or a live boy“)…
Expanding the GOP base; that’s what GOP leadership said to do
Or as Papa Smurf (John Sununu) famously used to say “Talk, talk, talk” to your family, friends, and neighbors to get them to convince them to join with the Republican Party. Like just pointed out here, Trump has and is doing exactly what he told people to do.

There’s a reason why “omnibus” bills are passed and sign by Republicans in DC (ostensibly, the Party of less government and lesser spending) – so they can appear to be FOR those two things and then pass the Fusion Party’s actual spending agenda. Sure, they enacted the Sequester that actually cut spending and held the line, but just voted to undo that restriction. And now we are about to reap that unboundedness and this time, given that the bill originated the the US House where newly coronated US House Speaker oversaw its passage, we can lay this all on the Republicans (emphasis mine, reformatted):
The tax-cut deal inked by President Obama and House Speaker Paul D. Ryan last month has put a major dent in the federal budget, helping send the deficit soaring by 24 percent, the Congressional Budget Office said Tuesday. The $544 billion deficit projected for 2016 marks the first year since 2009 that the red ink has grown, and it powers the deficit back up over the half-trillion mark, where it had been for most of Mr. Obama’s tenure.
And Ryan and the other Rs have just made that debt sack on our backs just that much heavier. And thanks to Kelly Ayotte as well, who voted for it. And it will get worse:
