SHOT:

The Arizona State Board of Cosmetology is investigating Juan Carlos Montesdeoca after receiving complaints that he was cutting hair without a license, Tucson News Now reported Monday. According to the complaint, which Montesdeoca shared with the TV station, the board received an anonymous complaint alleging that Montesdeoca was “requesting local businesses and local stylists to help out with free haircuts (unlicensed individuals) to the homeless.”

Montesdeoca gave the free haircuts on January 28 at the library in downtown Tucson. He organized the event through a Facebook group and solicited help from volunteers. He did it “out of the kindness of my heart,” and in memory of his mother, who loved her hair, he told Tucson News Now.

But he forgot to get permission from the state—or, rather, from the cosmetologists who apparently view his act of charity as a form of unwanted competition.

In the coming weeks, the governor of New Hampshire will nominate various New Hampshire citizens to serve on any of the 300-plus state boards or commissions. As your executive councilor I would like to hear from you if you would like to serve on some of these state boards or commissions. Having North Country and Lakes Region citizens serving on these state boards or commissions are critical to having your voices heard on many important topics in state government.

A list of these state boards and commissions can be found at http://sos.nh.gov/GC2.aspx. The type of openings can range from the Board of Licensed Dietitians to a Water Treatment Plant Advisory Committee. Here’s a startling fact: There have been eight leaders of the British Labour Party in the past 40 years. Seven of them failed to win a single general election. The exception, Tony Blair, was a Labour politician only in the most technical sense. Leftists saw him as a disguised conservative, a cuckoo in the nest. To this day, Labour activists use “Blairite” as the worst of insults, viler even than “Tory.”

Let’s widen the camera shot a little. All over Europe, traditional parties of the Center-Left have been losing badly. As I write, opinion polls show the French Socialists in fourth place, the Dutch Labour Party in seventh. Greece’s PASOK, the leading party since the early 1980s, is now polling at 7 percent. Spain’s PSOE, which had a comfortable majority as recently as 10 years ago, has been displaced by the more radical Podemos. Social Democrats in former communist countries, such as Poland and Hungary, have, if anything, fared even worse. . . .

It is in this context, perhaps, that we should consider American politics.

Noncitizen Faces Deportation for Illegal Voting After Getting Driver’s License

A Peruvian woman originally hoping to become a naturalized citizen in Illinois now faces deportation after her record of illegal voter registration and casting ballots for federal candidates has come to light. Margarita Del Pilar Fitzpatrick, a Peruvian woman married to an American citizen in Illinois, became registered to vote at a driver’s license issuing office in 2005, according to court records. She presented a valid green card and passport from her home country to satisfy the identification requirements to obtain a license. Because of guidelines under the National Voter Registration Act (a.k.a. Motor Voter), the DMV employee reflexively offered Fitzpatrick the opportunity to register to vote, despite her documented alien status.

I received the letter below from the Department of Elections in the State of Delaware. After a couple phone calls to them, I learned that someone registered me to vote (with my correct Date of Birth and Social Security number) on July 12, 2016 in Wilmington, Delaware. As a Democrat. I have never registered to vote in Delaware. I have only ever registered to vote where I live, in Ohio. I checked my credit report, and this is not full-fledged identity theft. It appears to be just some new-fangled election fraud.

Much is being said about Trump’s NSA head, Mike Flynn, and the recent past, the politics within the WH, and now, some of what might be going on.  A bit of it is from this; If I am channel surfing and pass by Fox News, I’ll click back if Dr. Sebastian Gorka is on – I like what he says and how it says it.  One also has to respect his background as well.  He had this to say (reformatted, emphasis mine for all the snippets, and with some other links, this post could go on for a bit and STILL not capture all of this issue but a basic taste, sure):

“I can’t comment on what was said, or what wasn’t said, on those telephone calls even though the good general himself says that he can’t remember all the details,” Gorka said. “All I can tell you is my personal experience. I spent several months working very closely with General Flynn and the transition team, in his National Security Council transition team. He’s a man you would trust with your life. He’s a great patriot, man of honor, worn the cloth of the Republic.

“The bottom line is, he shook things up in the DIA, and there are a lot of people who want to take revenge on him. Names I’m not going to list across the airwaves right now, but people who do a little bit of research can work out. The Establishment doesn’t like General Flynn, and for me, that’s a good thing,” he told SiriusXM host Alex Marlow.

Marlow proposed that Flynn was but the latest target of the Left’s “pick a target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it” strategy, as defined by Saul Alinsky in Rules for Radicals.

And he comes out with a list of who the Left, the Obama sycophants and embeds, and the denizens of the Deep State that believe THEY are the Government no matter who is in elected office – and there’s a catch:

FUD – Fear, uncertainty, and doubt.  Coming from Zandra Rice-Hawkins (our favorite cereal, Rice-Crispies) of Granite State Progress (a totally out of state funded entity), I tend to more call it lying.  She hates guns because this Statist loves Government – and it is clear from her history, as we all have said before, she believes that only Government should have such Force and it should be a monopoly.

Just like the Redcoats at the time of our Revolutionary War – it was their attempt to disarm the general populace that very well that was the spark that created The Shot Heard ‘Round The World.  I’m quite sure she’d have been a Royalist – she certains seems to be against Individual Liberty (except when it can advance the Progressive social and political  agenda.

Given how Alinsky’s Rules were used against Conservatives, Traditionalists, and Libertarians at the beginning of the Obama Administration, and how long it took us to figure out what it was that was being used against us, this piece by Kurt Schlicter (who is becoming a good read) is amusing:

Normally I do like the Daily Mail, a UK newspaper, as it reports on a lot of items that the US MSM won’t – and if the MSM does, the Daily Mail generally has more facts and less political correctness than its American brethren.  This time, not so much.

SHOT:

The not-for-profit American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has seen membership and donations soar since the White House’s executive order on migration blocking travel for citizens of seven mainly Muslim countries.  As the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) closes in on migrants, the group is launching a special unit to make sure those facing deportation are given access to counsel immediately.

More than 160 foreign nationals were detained in Los Angeles alone last week, according to ABC, but ICE Field Office Director David Marin said they were nothing our of the ordinary.

For all the talk about defunding Sanctuary cities (and soon, States), methinks Trump ought to cast a hairy eyeball at Mexico (emphasis mine, reformatted):

According to The Wall Street Journal, a group called Monarca — named after the Monarch butterflies that migrate across North America — is pushing several measures that aim to help Mexican migrants living in the U.S., one of which involves an ad campaign urging those targeted for deportation to take their cases to court.

“The backlog in the immigration system is tremendous,” former Foreign Minister Jorge Castaneda, a member of the group, told The Journal. He wants to double or triple that backlog, “until [U.S. President Donald] Trump desists in this stupid idea.”

The other night Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell rebuked her for impugning colleague Jeff Sessions. Exercising a little-known rule, the Senate revoked Warren’s floor privileges for 24 hours. Now, says the Times, “Ms. Warren is considered a very early frontrunner for 2020, should she run.”

I’m sorry. I just can’t. We are three weeks into the presidency of Donald J. Trump, the most unusual and unconventional man to inhabit the White House in a century, possibly ever, and the New York Times is already naming the frontrunner to replace him? The same media and consultant class that assumed Hillary Clinton would win the presidency in 2008 and again in 2016 presumes to declare how a Senate kerfuffle in February 2017 will affect Iowa caucus-goers in 2020? Who are these people? Where did they come from? What makes them so obtuse, so beholden to gossip, so given to wish-casting, so certain that their momentary impressions of trivial matters carry cosmic weight? Was it college that inflated their sense of self-worth? Is that what $50k a year buys you—a degree in smug? We may never know.

Venezuela is a basket case from every view you can take – except if you are a Socialist.  Those folks don’t even want to look in that direction and do you EVER hear them talking about how GREAT Venezuela is?  This headline and article doesn’t help and it should give both Socialists and Environmentalists (but I repeat myself) a big cause for reflection and introspection (yeah, I know, I know):

Biology student Luis Sibira stumbled across the first set of gory remains last November: eight pink flamingos, their breasts and torsos sliced out, leaving their heads, spindly legs and vivid feathers scattered across the marshy ground at Las Peonias Lagoon in western Venezuela…

But this isn’t simple poaching, he said. Sibira and other investigators from Zulia University, a public university in Maracaibo, are convinced that the protected birds have become the latest victims of Venezuela’s growing hunger crisis. People have become so desperate, he said, that they are butchering and eating flamingos.
