With all due respect to Allahpundit who wrote the HotAir headline before I could claim it, Planned Parenthood has dismissed “President” Dr. Leana Wen after only 8-months.
Why? Politics, of course.
Much like the way advertisers will put someone in a white lab coat to hawk their wares, Wen was a strategic hire. A woman doctor. A new day, forward, blah blah, blah…
Wen was specifically hired, in fact, because she’s a doctor and wanted to steer the organization’s image away from one of a political war machine and towards more of a true health-care organization.
One of Wen’s earliest proclamations was that PP’s core business was abortion. Words I can’t recall predecessor Cecile Richards using. And yet, Wen is supposedly the professional transition leader. Abortion as a science, not politics. A medical intervention based on a health-Care choice. White lab coats, smiling professionals.
Abortion has always been about politics first so it’s not surprising things have not gone well.
Politically, it’s been a terrible, awful year for Abortion Inc. Sure, they got some infanticide rules passed in Liberal bastions but that is in part what motivated other states to regulate the barbaric practice of sacrificing the unborn to the Left’s angry gods nearly out of existence. I’ve no sense of Wen’s role in any of that but as Allahpundit notes,
Wen was a “peacetime” leader, shall we say; between the push to pass “heartbeat bills” in some red states and the new administration rule barring federally funded family planning clinics from providing abortion referrals, PP decided belatedly that it needed a wartime consigliere.
Planned Parenthood’s business model preys on young women. They encourage loose sexual practice then profit both financially and politically from the destruction of human beings. Erasing generations of mostly minority babies by insisting that young women have a right to end a physical life in pursuit of an easier social life.
Hand in hand with their allies in the Democrat Party.
It’s sinister.
