Steve posted this chart on Wednesday.

Well, yesterday, the creator of that chart added a bit more info to it:

Highlights:
- Top 1% income earners ($380K / year) earn 20% of all the wages
- They pay 38% of all Federal income taxes
Proportionally, I would say that is more than their "fair" share. Agree?
Interesting stat – I guess public service CAN pay:
- $114,000 / year -> top 10 percent of income earners.
- That means that a cop making $60K married to a teacher making $60K make it into the top 10 percent.
To me, however, the most important stat that begs a question is that rightmost column: 1/2 of the wage earners in the US pay a paltry < 3% of income taxes.
You hear all the time from the Libs / Progressives that EVERYTHING and EVERYONE must be equal – and they are not just meaning "before the law" but seemingly in ALL things (yup, got a quota for that!). Understandably, the absolute amount may not be the same, but why shouldn’t the percentage be more in line with everyone else?
After all, they share in the benefits of good government – why are they excused for paying for it? After all, we hear from a lot of Libs that we should be saving money for us – cut our military and make Europe and Japan and S. Korea et al pay for their own defense!
Why would this be any different: paying for benefits?
