MACDONALD: 2A Firearm Pay-to-Play

The Left never gives up, especially when it comes to restricting your natural rights. Even in the wake of US Supreme Court decisions and countless court losses over a wide range of attempted restrictions, the Dems keep looking for ways to make you not want to own a firearm.

From draconian limitations to a legal system that punished you for daring to defend yourself, they’ll try anything, so this honestly doesn’t surprise me.

Beginning May 1, 2027, Washington state residents will have to pay $126 to acquire a state-issued permit-to-purchase that allows them to buy a gun.

Before you browse cases for your next favorite sidearm, you’ll have to pony up some cash for permission.

You’ll need to give the State Police $90 for the permit and $36 for the fingerprint background check. Then there’s the state-certified training course, which isn’t free: you’ll have to pay for ammunition, range time, and the trainer, and you must pass the course to get the permit.

It sounds like a lot of infringing to me.

A right you are prohibited from exercising until you appease the state, pre-pay an entry fee, and subject yourself to a biometric screening that will put your fingerprint in a state law enforcement database.

I’m pro-police. Human beings have to agree on some measure of order and accountability, and someone needs to come and take the dead intruder out of your entryway after you’ve defended yourself, but that doesn’t mean I trust the system.

Imagine if the State insisted on fingerprinting innocent, law-abiding citizens (for free) before they exercised a First Amendment right.

OMG!

And you’ll need this permit ($90), a $36 background check, and you’ll have to pass the misinformation/disinformation certification before you are allowed to “speak.”

These rights sit right next to each other in the Constitution.

I think it’s reasonable to treat them the same way, and trust me, the left would do the same to the First if they thought they could get away with it.

The plethora of actions, lawsuits, and infringements on First Amendment rights is long and storied, but it boils down to this. Almost every one of them is to silence “speech” or ‘expression” the left hates, with the hope that the defendant can’t possibly afford the legal cost of admission to fight to get their rights back.

Another really good reason to kick or keep Democrats out of office.
