Democrats always tell you or show you what they fear, and by fear, I mean the things that represent the biggest threat to big, inefficient tax-and-spend governments. If it looks like the thing could undermine their progressive Democrat-Socialist agenda, it becomes a target.
Donald Trump and MAGA have, for more than ten years, been a threat to the DC establishment, and members from every side have made it their mission to undermine, slow, or halt any effort to change the way Washington and the Federal Government work.
In New Hampshire, Democrats have made it their mission to smear the Free State Project because it is a threat to the progressive homogenization of New England.
We’re surrounded by crappy, intrusive, blue states, all making the same expensive mistakes they make you pay for. If you wanted to live like that, you could get there from here in less than an hour from anywhere in the Granite State. If New Hampshire is allowed to remain the freest state in America and North America, if it continues to be the safest, healthiest, best economically, and continues to lower taxes and maximize liberty and human flourishing, the best and brightest in New England (and elsewhere) will migrate there to escape progressivism in all its forms. Hopefully, to further secure liberty from the malevolent hand of Democrat-Socialism.
New Hampshire isn’t just a threat to New Hampshire Democrats; it is a threat to Democratic hegemony across New England and America.
Democrat Socialism only works if there’s no chance or hope of escape.
We share the Free State Project mission to create a place where the government leaves law-abiding citizens alone to live their lives. Where protecting your rights is more important than creating loopholes to infringe on them.
Government is more dangerous to the people, their rights, and well-being than anything else a human mind can conceive. Our founders understood this. The response to COVID actually proved that to millions of people.
It is increasingly clear to many that fewer people would have been harmed had the government done nothing but offered advice and access to information without its corrupted influence.
Everyone agrees that limited government, as envisioned not just by America’s Founders but by New Hampshire’s, is better for everyone and everything.
Democrats want the opposite. It’s that simple. And they’ve decided to try to freeze and target Free Staters. Smear them, ridicule them. They’ve done talking tours, presentations, demonstrations, and have become obsessed.
Letting you keep more and more of what you earn so you can decide how best to spend it in your shared economy. Because you might give money to a non-profit that will solve some problem instead of making it worse. Expecting the results or outcomes promised and rewarding them with your commerce or donations.
They’d like to end government-enforced or encouraged monopolies that are unconstitutional, such as in education, health care, insurance, and others, because doing so increases choices and access and lowers costs.
They have this crazy idea that parents are better parents than the state, something Democrats object to with their votes and voices despite all the School, YDC, and DCYF scandals.
Liberty-folks want children to get the best, most affordable education that fits their needs. Learning, not just high-priced, union-controlled, institutional “schooling.”
New Hampshire has many business cartels that keep prices high and access limited, and they’d like to knock down those barriers so more people can participate to improve the marketplace.
Family courts punish children and families, and they’d like to see some accountability.
The list is long, but the summary is always the same. What can we do to get the government out of the way of law-abiding citizens? How can we empower them to help themselves, their families, and their communities, not by force or coercion but by choice?
You’d be right to ask why Democrats would object to any of that, but they do, and the answer is simple. Where liberty-minded candidates and residents trust the people, Democrats do not. Do not trust them to what? To pay for things important to Democrats.
They have to force you to do it through regulation and taxation, and there is no limit to the scope of these infringements on your property or peace. Ask them how much of either is too much, and they can’t answer you.
Look at Massachusetts, Vermont, California. The failure is evident, as are the lies to gain power: Spanberger in Virginia and Mamdani in New York.
The liberty movement thinks you should only have to pay for things important to you. Your peace and privacy, your rights, they belong to you, and State government exists to protect those rights. Protect them from violations in New Hampshire, from other states, even other nations.
To promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.
The Democrats don’t want any of that for you. You could even say they want it for themselves at your expense. Just look at Democrat states for proof. California comes to mind far too easily.
The Free State Project and all of us who are like-minded are educating people about how much better life would be with less government, and the Democrats are terrified you’ll listen, so November in New Hampshire is critical for many reasons, not the least of which is the answer to that question. Will this vote continue to advance liberty or reverse course?
If I have to explain which vote is which, you’re not listening.
