Sununu files for a fourth term for NH Governor

by Skip

“I never thought about doing a fourth term early on, but given where we are with the pandemic, given that we’re going to have some fiscal challenges ahead, we’re heading into a potential recession,” Sununu said. “We need good financial management. We’re doing great stuff on mental health. We’ve got to see those investments through.”

Ah yes, WMUR got a couple of pull quotes from Baby Huey as he signed up to run once again. Note the use of the word “investments”. Now, maybe it’s just me, as I’m not getting out much lately, but when’s the last time you heard a conservative Republican use that word in a glowing manner?  I hear a lot of Democrats, however, use such verbiage.  They know that they keep getting pasted for spending (the root source of our current Bidenflation – govt spending too much and passing out money like it was candy to a diabetic) and focus-group changed to investment like Government is some kind of business or sumtin’.

Problem is, a business DOES make investments which are supposed to yield profits. Then, part of that profit is supposed to go back to the owners of the company as dividends. Sununu has now grabbed onto the language of the Left in swapping terms as he KNOWS that we, the “owners” of Government, never get a financial dividend from government.  We only seem to get the bill (via higher taxes) instead.

This, too:

“You’re always going to have folks on the ultra-anti-government right who are upset, just like progressives will always have these ultra-socialists on the left that are going to be upset,” Sununu said. “There’s a spectrum. There’s always going to be a spectrum. So, my message is always to the 1.4 million people that I represent.”

I “liked” this part as well – a dust off to those that haven’t liked his performance over his COVID handling in instituting our “30 day free trial of Socialism” that lasted two years as he and his Administration decided to take full control of our economy. Now, I’m easily betting that he meant RebuildNH and we at GraniteGrok into that crowd as he keeps growing the size of NH government (either directly or via the “free money” from the Federal Government that ALWAYS results on more people on the State payroll.

But I’m also betting that was also an “inclusive” swipe against the Republican Leadership and the rank and file in the State Legislature that he both lied to (on emergency powers) and in making it known that he’d veto several bills if passed if his sycophants didn’t kill it first (like the Parental Rights bill, where his underlings like Laconia’s Travis O’Hara and Mike Bordes decided that Government (e.g., school boards and staff) should remain in control over Parents when it comes to children).

Lastly, I’ve been wondering if he’d be running again (hope against hope??)  but he waited until the very last moment, apparently.  WMUR’s Adam Sexton had this line, though:

Sununu kept his tradition of filing his candidacy in a low-key manner on the last day of the filing period, showing up alone in the secretary of state’s office to hand over his filing fee.

Alone except for Adam Sexton, it seems. I’m thinking that Sexton was not eternally camped out in NH Secretary of State Scanlon’s office all day waiting for Sununu to show up.  What’s the over/under that a “stray” call was placed to say “meet me at <insert time here> where the location was unneeded to be verbalized?
