What Do Chick-fil-A and Gov. Chris Sununu Have in Common?

The Salvation Army, by their own estimate, provides more poverty assistance to the LGBT community than perhaps any organization on the planet. They help people in need without regard to anything other than the need. But militant, leftist, douchebags don’t care.

What does this have to do with Governor Chris Sununu? Lessons we have been teaching for years. If you give in to the left they will make you pay for it.

The Salvation Army has lost Chick-fil-A as a prominent supporter because facts matter less to the left than their hate stereotypes. Ellie Goulding took heat for offering to sing at a presentation sponsored (in part) by The Salvation Army. The #Wokeasauras, a blind, deaf, and intolerably stupid beast, roared. Ellie melted and tweeted. Chick-Fil-A stepped in Twit and declared it would stop donating to the Salvation Army ‘cuz discrimination.

The donations were coming out of the Chick-fil-A Foundation. The Executive Director of the CFA Foundation is Rodney D. Bullard, a former White House fellow and Assistant US Attorney. Some may have mistaken him for a conservative because he was a fellow in the Bush Administration, but he was an Obama donor, and, more recently, had donated to Hillary Clinton’s campaign while at Chick-fil-A.

Chick-fil-A took advice from a leftist about dealing with leftists. And the left-wing pressure groups are already saying it’s not enough. They want more, and they want it now.

Back to Sununu

That’s how New Hampshire ended up with a Human rights commission, laws compelling the speech of pastors and therapists, a law that invalidates Title IX and lets boys and men into lady’s bathrooms and locker rooms.

My predictions?

The Progressive NGO’s will claim a victory. They’ll get a lot more momentum, and outside money. They’ll hire more staff, lawyers and lobbyists to push forward to the next step in their agenda. And they’ll get more legislative help because not one Democrat will vote for a Republican (instead of a Democrat) because of the passage of the bathroom bill.

And while Governor Sununu may be able to weather the loss of thousands of votes (though I do not think that is true) what of elected members of the party he (at least figuratively) leads? Candidates who need a handful or a few hundred votes to win or keep a seat for which the votes will vanish? A majority that will vanish.

Came true.

Total wipeout except for Sununu. And I was right about something else too. When NH Dem Party Chair Ray Buckley took his victory lap after those Bill signings, he made sure to let the governor know, it’s not enough.

Governor Sununu has neglected to issue Pride Month proclamations in either of his two years as governor, he has not attended any of the pride parades across the state, and he refused to stand up to his own state party as they rejected marriage equality in their 2018 platform.

It goes on but you get the idea. And there is no shortage of examples in our legislature (particularly the State Senate) where ‘Republicans’ stepped on the left’s slippery slope, and the Left has been pulling them down ever since.

Don’t give in, they’ll just make you regret it, and they will never let you forget. That doesn’t mean you can’t save them. Like The Salvation Army, we should be supportive when needed. Example? In 2019 and (most likely) 2020, more than a few RINO Republicans in the legislature chose to vote like Republicans instead of Democrats. The lefty majorities have overreached and inspired them to do more to defend the platform and constitution. It won’t last unless you challenge them to stay there. It’s up to us to do that.

As for Chick-fil-A, they could be saved too. And yes, we’ll have to do that too.
