Data Point – Poll on an assault weapons ban

Emphasis mine:

Snapshot: Majority in U.S. Now Oppose Ban on Assault Rifles

Americans’ support for a ban on semi-automatic guns in the U.S. has dropped eight percentage points from a year ago, when opinions were more evenly divided after the mass shooting in Las Vegas. Last year’s measure was unusually high for the trend over the past several years; the current 40% is back to within a few points of where it was between 2011 and 2016.

The current 40% support for an assault rifles ban is below the historical average of 47%. The latest data provide further evidence that public opinion typically shifts to higher support for tougher gun laws in the aftermath of a traumatic national event such as a mass shooting, but gradually reverts to prior levels as the memory of it fades.

I understand the numbers but the phrasing is AWFUL and once again, we see that folk yammering about stuff they don’t know about.

Kuster’s Last Stand

Sorry, I couldn’t help myself with the title – but I promise that it’s very applicable. Essentially, I predict we won’t have Annie Kuster to kick around anymore – at least not in Congress for the next two years. Looking at the St. Anselm College Survey Center’s April, 2018 poll, our stealthy District-2 Congresswoman is in … Read more

Question: GraniteGrok Meetups

BUMPED from July 14th: Reminder, the poll closes on Saturday!

GrokSignal

As we try to ramp GraniteGrok to the next level, one of the things being contemplated is doing Meetups – instead of you coming here, we Groksters would come out and meet with you folks.  Purpose?  Just to yak, talk, converse – you know, share a bit of fellowship.  So, I’d like to find out IF our loyal readers think this might be a good idea, and if it might be, where should they be held and how often?  Completely ad hoc or with a bit of an agenda?  Just yak, or as Steve said, perhaps have a “GrokThink!” component (yes, I will keep you in suspense).  As always, I read all the comments.  But I do want to do a couple of polls after the jump (if I can figure this thingy out as I’ve never used the plugin that Steve has been using lately) so each poll might get adjusted as I correct mistakes.

OK, first question: how often?

Gallup Poll: Inaccuracy, Misinformation, and Bias in Media News Coverage

America doesn't trust the media

Gallup’s latest opinion poll adds another nail to the Media coffin.  A growing majority believe it is biased.

Overall, U.S. adults estimate that 62% of the news they read in newspapers, see on television or hear on the radio is biased. They think the news media mostly provide accurate information, but still estimate that 44% of what they see is inaccurate. And they believe that more than a third of the news they see in these channels is misinformation — false or inaccurate information that is presented as if it were true.

Grok Poll – Will You Vote for Gov. Sununu After He Advanced The Radical Democrat Agenda?

polling, pencil, checkboxIt’s sad to say but New Hampshire’s ‘Republican’ Governor, Chris Sununu just signed two bills that should be challenged in court. One is a gag order that violates free speech and rights of conscience. The other deprives women of privacy in sex-specific spaces (not to mention a host of other issues). All to appease a sliver of the population that will never vote for him anyway.
