Unite Behind What?

As for “bringing the party together,” it is not a notion in a vacuum nor desirable if the product moves us in the wrong direction. Unity, more often than not, is the product of a force of nature whose clarity about the goal or mission is so clear that people gather round to listen and then feel compelled to act. Julianna Bergeron may be faithful and competent from the perspective of a party insider, but so is a good accountant. That does not make them capable of leading and inspiring a movement.

What’s In Your Narrative?

Plenty of people who think they are quite attuned to the echo chamber are spending a good deal of time doing the progressives and RINO’s dirty work.  These are people on the right, so-called insiders who get how the game is played.  Yet again (and again) I find the chorus repeating the message which the left and the media have ingrained in them…every time they hear the bell ring.

"Sarah Palin." Ding!

Independents will never vote for her.  Her resignation as governor is a deal breaker.  You can’t bring social issues into the debate or Republican’s lose the center, she is stupid, inexperienced, too provocative, and on and on and on.

This is the message of the establishment elites on both sides.  It is the growl of a cornered animal that fears for its life.  A life dependent on the growth and power of government.  And it has been picked up and repeated by people who should know better.

Ray Buckley Doth Protest Too Much

Gay Activist "Fish" Stories?NHDP Chairperson Ray Buckley likes to pretend things about who we should and should not vote for.  This time around it’s the governors race, and the object of his affection is John Stephen.

If Republican Primary voters watched WMUR last night they would vote for Jack Kimball for governor because Johnny Stephen did a terrible, terrible job. Let’s hope they vote for Stephen, his vacuous platform and profound lack of even a basic understanding of issues past silly bumper sticker slogans will flop big time in November.

-From Ray’s Facebook page

Silly bumper sticker slogans?  Oh, like, "Yes we can?"  Or maybe  "We are the ones we’ve been waiting for?"  How about "Hope and Change?" Ray knows all about the "profound lack of even a basic understanding of issues."  It’s called the daily White House Press conference. Or maybe the average NHDP press release?

Choir Practice

CNHTListening to twenty or so people give political speeches in succession may well be worse than being water-boarded. Listening to twenty or so political speeches in an air-conditioned room with close to 300 people who (more or less) are on board with just about everything that is likely to be said at that kind of event is choir practice. But having that kind of access to that many candidates for three hours is priceless.

That is the CNHT annual picnic, in a nutshell–plus an all you can eat buffet of picnic fare, with P.J. Rourke as a guest speaker right in the middle of it all. From noon to three today, at the VFW hall in Hillsborough New Hampshire, the 12th annual Coalition of New Hampshire Taxpayers picnic attracted dozens of candidates for every level of office and hundreds of people who were looking for an opportunity to meet and talk to the candidates who want to represent them. It’s like a House party for every candidate all at once, and if you missed it you missed a chance to get personal attention in a very important election year.
