Morning Update: Protein “Shake”

Today, on the Morning Update, you don’t hate the media nearly enough, and Dr. Robert Malone has provided a very recent example of this for your consumption on how the ‘Press’ used a review article to sell a medical fact that was never demonstrated.

Welcome to your Friday, August 7th, 2026 morning update. Been working on some audio issues, by the way. I’m sure you noticed. I’m hoping that the firmware update and some other changes have corrected that problem. If not, we’ll keep working on it.

So the crazy left-wing environmental press got really excited about a report that said too much protein might be bad for your health. Longevity, wellness. They went crazy. They were like, Well, I’m gonna read you some headlines from Dr. Robert Malone. His piece is titled “The Protein Panic: How a Review Paper Became a Dietary Guideline in Three Days.”

Within hours of publication, headlines around the world confidently declared that eating less protein could help people live longer.

A couple of headlines:

  • Protein restriction improves metabolism and longevity.
  • Rethinking protein less may be more.
  • Eating less protein could slow aging.
  • Less protein may be more healthy.
  • Less protein may be more for healthy aging.
  • Eat less protein, age better, live longer.
  • Eating too much protein could age you faster.
  • And protein restriction may promote healthy aging and longevity.

From Dr. Malone, the news aggregator Ground.news tracked more than 50 news organizations carrying some version of the story, with many of the top headlines, even in scientific magazines, making outrageous claims. To the average reader, the message was unmistakable. Science has spoken. The advice was simple. Eat less protein.

But according to Dr. Malone, the paper doesn’t actually demonstrate any of that. Not at all. Malone says the review contains no long-term randomized human trials showing that reducing protein intake increases lifespan, prevents dementia, reduces fractures, lowers all-cause mortality, or preserves independence and old age. Most of the human studies discussed lasted only a few weeks and measured metabolic biomarkers rather than the outcomes people actually care about. Living longer, remaining stronger, and staying healthy.

Think about that and take a look at those headlines again. Hmm, more media malfeasance, climate change, sustainability, a peg that fits the proglodyte hole. Ew.

Echoes of every other scaremongered everything. All the reasons why nobody trusts the scientific community or the media, COVID, for example. And then this year we’ve had what? Bird flu, hantavirus, Ebola, ticks. Apparently, exposing fraud in federal programs undermines them. Cyclosporiasis. Yeah, that kind of sucks. I admit that sucks. It’s really unpleasant. And yeah, two people have actually died from it. They were old, they were comorbid, they probably dehydrated. It’s a bad situation. But again, as a percentage of the population, it’s really, really tiny. And hey, pro tip, you can’t get it eating protein.

More from Dr. Malone.

That does not mean every recommendation was wrong. It means the public was repeatedly presented with provisional scientific judgments as though they were settled fact. The lesson from those episodes should have been humility. Instead, we continue to see the same pattern repeated. A provocative hypothesis becomes a confident headline, and the caveats that define good science quietly disappear along the way.

So what was the paper’s actual conclusion?

Well, the conclusion was that we don’t really know what the best amount of protein intake is for human beings generally or in different stages of their life. There’s absolutely not enough research at all for us to even make that conclusion, which of course the media just did.

So the problem? Well, some folks will eat less protein to their physical and mental detriment because the press told them that was true again.

That’s it for today. I’ll talk to you on Monday.
