Today, on the morning update, the idea of rejecting ballots, especially mail-in ballots for elections, is a hot topic, but this blue state says it rejected 148,000 of them, so all that breathless angst over mail-in ballot voting rights is what, exactly? Wrong?

Welcome to your July 27th, 2026 morning update.
The Trump administration has proposed controlling vote by mail using barcodes.
It’s a pretty good idea, if you ask me. If you ask Democrats, they get all uppity about all sorts of things having to do with voting, citizenship, residency, domicile, everything, even age. They want children to vote as if that’s a good idea. Well, of course it is if you’re a Democrat, because that’s who they’re gonna vote for.
Doesn’t have anything to do with democracy or anything at all except power.
Well, California just had an election. We think they’re probably still counting it, which is a little embarrassing, seeing as second- and third-world countries can manage to count all their ballots in one day or less. But California is California. It’s a left-wing hellhole, and it’s run by Democrats
Quote: Election data that was provided by California’s state officials for last month’s primary election shows that more than 148,000 mail-in ballots were rejected, an uptick of more than forty thousand from the 2024 primary; all in all, 148,241 were rejected in the state’s June 2nd primary election, according to data released by the California Secretary of State’s office.
That’s 1.73% of all mail-in ballots.
According to the data, more than 93,000 were rejected by officials because they arrived too late. Another 8,300 were rejected because there was no voter signature on the ballot.
And nearly forty-four thousand were rejected due to a non-matching signature. Meanwhile, some 580 weren’t used because no photo ID was provided. More than 740 were rejected because the voter had already voted, and 640 were rejected because the ballot was missing from the envelope, and roughly 450 were flagged as having multiple ballots in each envelope, the election figures show.
The only thing I don’t see here is rejections for non-citizens voting. I think that’s probably pretty important.
But every single category that Democrats cry and whine about is in this list. California, one of the bluest states in the country, rejects ballots, mail-in ballots en masse for reasons that you and I agree they should
If Democrats try to make the case that we shouldn’t do that, just point them to California.
That’s it for today. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
