Local School Board Abandons “Principles” For Money

by Skip

Note: I just went to the Gilford School Board Meeting Minutes folder and discovered that the Meeting Minutes from the Feb 3rd meeting are missing. Why?

It’s now 19 days later. And the School Board made some consequential policy changes due to a “Dear Colleague” letter that Superintendent Beitler received just before that meeting. They reverted back to the 2020 versions of policies from the recently approved 2024 versions for:

  • AC – Nondiscrimination, Equal Opportunity Employment and Anti-Discrimination Plan
  • AC-R(2)/AC-E – Nondiscrimination, Equal Opportunity Employment and Anti-Discrimination Plan – Annual
  • Notice of Contact Information
  • ACA/AC-R – Discrimination and Harassment Grievance Procedure
  • ACAC – Prohibition of Sexual Harassment: Policy and Grievance Procedures

An Aside: ALL THESE POLICIES promulgated by the NH School Board Association. I often ask myself “why bother voting for School Board members when it is clear that the District is run by the NHSBA’s policies as well as the Superintendent”? There is little to show of independent thinking by most of them both here and by other SB’s that I have visted.

I’m betting that a lot of other New Hampshirites think the same thing – SB members generally DON’T act like any other regular elected representatives here in NH at any other level (local, county, or State). They’ve locked themselves into an iron-barred room.

Why these policies? Fear of losing Federal funding. When Beitler was done explaining why they had to be done – the Kentucky court decision on transgenders as well as President Trump’s Executive Orders dealing with DEI and Transgenderism and that schools that continue those woke practices would be stripped of any and all Federal funding:

Yet, they refused to pull Policy JBAB (Transgender and Non-Conforming) that deals with trying to suppress Free Speech (“preferred pronouns”) and forcing staff to lie to parents about the transgender status of their child (at least it did until I took them to court and finally got them to recognize that they have no Power to act contra to the US and NH Constitutions on their own say so).

What I thought was rather amusing is that, if memory serves me well, SB members Vice-Chair Nicole Hogan, Lauren Huleatt, and Monica Sawyer ALL stated, when it came time to vote on reverting these policies, that they really didn’t want to do it except they didn’t want to risk the District’s Federal Funding (Chair Jacques and Bob McLean merely voted yes without commenting).

In essence, they voted against their own woke philosophy. For Trump’s filthy lucre – imagine that!

But THEN, after Principal Sperrazzo introduced “Prism”, the LGBTQ/Straight safe space club with Beitler’s enthusiastic affirmation, the Board voted on it. And in fact, they all stated (to be checked when I finally get the minutes for the roll call) that it was a WONDERFUL thing that this was going to be put into action.

Even after my warning. Well, FAFO to you all (just like Maine Gov. Mills).

This is the quick testimony that I gave at the second Public Comment section in calling out their hypocrisy – and some information about me and the new White House Administration:

And yes, contact with the new folks that I know in the White House has been made concerning this stuff. I WARNED them – I think they are taking me lightly. This is gonna be SO much fun!

Note: the Katie that I referenced is the Student Representative on the Board.

Oh, I did put in another Right To Know which is now 16 days in the past (11 business days).

Heh!
