The Campus Carry bill would remove an unconstitutional exemption we shouldn’t even need that has allowed Colleges in the state that take tax money to create and enforce gun-free zones. HB1793, the Protecting College Students Act, ends special gun-free zones on public college campuses and extends New Hampshire’s constitutional carry law to every corner of taxpayer-funded property.
Rumor has it the Republican Majority State Senate is under pressure to water it down until it provides little or no guarantees to law-abiding students who want to carry concealed for their protection and that of their classmates.
Gun-free zones attract mass shooters, and thanks to progressive culture and their non-stop violent rhetoric, being disarmed could prove deadly.

Groups, including the New Hampshire Firearms Coalition, are asking everyone to reach out to their State Senators, Senate Judiciary, and Senate leadership, as well as the Governor.
HB 1793 simply applies the same rules law-abiding adults already follow everywhere else in the state. College students do not lose their constitutional rights at the campus property lines.
Key Points to Include in Your Messages:
- Law-abiding 18–22 year olds can vote, serve in the military, and carry off-campus — they should be treated as responsible adults on campus too.
- Voluntary training and cooperation with campus police show real personal responsibility.
- Public institutions should not receive special carve-outs to override statewide constitutional carry.
- This protects the fundamental right to self-defense in critical moments when police cannot arrive instantly.
