SMITH: A Special Sticker Removal Service For Elderly Veterans

Helping veterans is a noble and popular thing to do.  I doubt that anyone would disagree.  Similarly, we are often told to help our elders.  With that said, I propose a volunteer group for performing one particular service to elderly veterans in NH.  I don’t know if Reps Mannion, Sabourin, and Granger were officers or NCOs, but they all deserve a salute for giving me such an idea with their tweets.

If any elderly veteran would like to have their tax stamp, um I mean STICKER, removed from their windshield, offer to do it for them.  If you’re so inspired, you could even offer to clean up the adhesive mess, if applicable, and dispose of the removed sticker.

Lots of old people dislike being reminded of their aging, but special fanfare should be considered for those veterans with milestone birthdays this year, especially if they’re public figures.  There could even be a select group of volunteers that are veterans, but us lifelong civilians can still play a support role or be IRRs(individual ready reservists) for this volunteer group.  We could be on standby if there’s a shortage of veterans available to remove stickers for elderly veterans, but it would be best for the volunteer to be a veteran from the same branch as the veteran that’s being served.  For example, 8.3 Leader’s David L’Heureux, founder of the original Dartmouth vax protest group, was in the Coast Guard.  So was Regina.  While people might argue about the age at which using the word ELDERLY is appropriate, Regina does turn 70 next month.  David could even tell her to live long and prosper as he removes her sticker.

People might argue about 70, as for 80, not so much!  Alderman Dowd turns 80 THIS month, supposedly.  He’s a squid and a self proclaimed nuclear submarine subject matter expert.  Grokster Burton Janz is a Navy man and would be a good person for the job, but maybe a constituent would be even more suitable for the task.  That makes me consider Mr McManus, a Ward 2 mailman that was in the Army.  In fact, I’m going to recommend Mr McManus because I think he would be more unrestrained at telling him all the derogatory things he needs to hear.  Hearing such remarks from the very people he keeps getting reelected to serve makes it all the more appropriate.

Oh, oh, oh, and one more thing, as Columbo is known to say, do you know any “fake Marines?”  Even though he no longer has that stupid “Dean of the Senate” plate, D’Alessandro still has a sticker to be removed and it should be done by a fellow fake Marine.
