Dear Fellow Second Amendment Supporter,
The New Hampshire Firearms Coalition (NHFC) is the state’s only no-compromise gun rights organization, dedicated to defending your absolute Second Amendment rights without apology or retreat.
Victory: Strengthening State Preemption of Firearm Laws!
Thanks to relentless advocacy from supporters like you, recent legislation (House Bill 609) passed the House and has reaffirmed and bolstered the state’s exclusive authority over the regulation of firearms. This new bill would prevent local governments, agencies, or municipalities from imposing patchwork infringements, ensuring uniform protection of our rights across New Hampshire. We will let you know when the Senate hearings are scheduled!
Critical Full-Day Hearings Next Wednesday, January 14, 2026
The House Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee is holding hearings on multiple firearm-related bills in Room 159, 1 Granite Place (GP), Concord. We need strong turnout to support bills that restore our rights and oppose those that would infringe them!
Key bills and NHFC positions:
- SUPPORT – 10:00 a.m. HB 1793-FN – Prohibits public colleges and universities from banning or regulating the possession or carrying of firearms and non-lethal weapons on campus. Ends the Unconstitutional Bans against the keeping and bearing arms on public college campuses!
- SUPPORT – 10:30 a.m. HB 1697-FN – Exempts firearms, accessories, and ammunition manufactured and kept in New Hampshire from federal overreach. Asserts state sovereignty over intrastate firearms and restores rights that the federal government has infringed upon.
- WATCH, will need language changes – 11:00 a.m.HB 1699-FN – Allows lawful carrying of firearms on certain slow-moving vessels. Removes unconstitutional infringements on our Second Amendment rights while on waterways. Needs technical corrections. The bill should really allow carry of loaded firearms on private property.
- SUPPORT – 11:30 a.m. HB 1365– Limits invasive information collection on optional pistol/revolver license applications, protecting applicant privacy. Reduces bureaucratic overreach for reciprocity permits (no impact on constitutional carry)
- SUPPORT – 12:00 p.m. HB 1446 – Ensures therapeutic cannabis use does not disqualify individuals from firearm rights under state law. Protects qualified patients from losing their rights
- OPPOSE 1:00 p.m. HB 1454-FN – Establishes procedures for surrender, storage, and return of firearms after protective orders, while not protecting a person’s due process rights.
- STRONGLY OPPOSE– 1:30 p.m. HB 1387 – Repeals firearm manufacturers and sellers’ liability protections, opening up those firms to frivolous lawsuits over product design. Potentially puts our gun manufacturers at risk of being exploited legally
- STRONGLY OPPOSE – 2:00 p.m. HB 1642-FN – Creates “extreme risk protection orders” allowing gun confiscation without charges. Same Bill – New Year!
