Governor Ayotte,
When will you be launching a property tax crackdown? Granite Staters desperately need help with cutting rates and out-of-control property assessment to restrict local spending. New Hampshire needs this. Yesterday!
People are hurting. I see evidence of this everywhere.
This was a sleazy way for the City to boost taxes without raising taxes. Note the huge jump in my assessment from 2022 to 2023.
Year Valuation
2024 $262,800
2023 $262,800
2022 $148,600
This is theft-Plain and simple.
And why do public employees never get laid off like their counterparts in the private sector? Does not the current depression affect the country and world at large, not just the public sector, except for President Trump’s trimming the fat on federal employment?
I live in Claremont, and half of my property tax bill goes to the failing school district, SAU-6. I don’t have kids attending school here. Why should I pay taxes for the schools? Home schooling rocks! Yet over $4000 of my property taxes goes to the worst school system in the state. You can’t even justify the four grand in taxes by saying the schools are graduating quality students. They’re not! The kids today are ill-equipped to deal with life after school. And you can forget hiring them. These graduates are deficient in various subjects, including math, reading, writing, and history. If you’re gay, into DEI, or have sheeple for parents, then public schools are for you! Learning is not required, nor apparently, is it offered.
My wife and I have decided to sell our home, and leave Claremont for a more tax-friendly (and lower crime-ridden) town. When enough people of means or ability decide to leave Claremont (which they seem to be) then you will get the liberal ghetto described in Steve MacDonald’s article MacDonald: Communists Recruiting in Claremont.
Sincerely,
Richard Connolly
