CNHT: Ayotte Signs Away Single Family Neighborhoods

by

Claiming that it’s part of an effort to mitigate a (non-existent) housing ‘crisis’, Governor Ayotte has signed every single housing bill that made it to her desk, including the very damaging HB577, which eradicates the right of towns to create single-family zones.

We are now no better than California.

Despite being sent our petition daily with over 1,129 signatures, and despite warnings from State Representatives of the consequences of signing these bills, and in contradiction of her campaign slogan “Don’t Mass Up NH”, Ayotte has apparently done the bidding of the housing lobbies which contribute heavily to her campaigns.

This has paved the way for corporations to buy up properties in your neighborhood and erect one or two rental units on one lot, in what was formerly deemed a single-family neighborhood. You can bet the rental fees would not help mitigate any housing shortage even if one existed, or help with lowering the cost of rent.

It is hopeful that in the next session, we can find legislators to propose bills that would reverse these damaging decisions made by your Governor, Kelly Ayotte, who seems to have been more responsive to her donors than to her constituents, and in 2026  to primary those who sided with her.

In anticipation of the desire to repeal these bills, the petition will keep active as long as it continues to garner signatures. Don’t stop reminding Ayotte what harm she has done to family-friendly neighborhoods in NH.

AYOTTE’S DONORS
This explains a lot.

Compensation from Blackstone: Ayotte has served on the board of Blackstone, a prominent private equity firm and one of the largest landlords in the country, since 2019. Her compensation from this role has included $544,000 in cash and millions more in stock. Blackstone’s operations, including buying foreclosed properties and raising rents, have drawn criticism for contributing to the housing crisis.

The housing industry even gave her an award. This seems more like defending the builders’ industry, not housing for families.

Many of her contributions come from donors within New Hampshire, with some coming from out-of-state donors, particularly Massachusetts.
