This year, I have submitted eight bills already, am researching another constituent request, and am open to further ideas.
I’ve resubmitted some bills I worked on last year which died due to the COVID interruptions, including cannabis legalization (possessing and growing, but no sales); a certificate to allow cosmetologists to tattoo eyebrows (rather than getting a tattoo license); and building code updates. I also picked up a ban on state use of face recognition, and have been working with some other legislators to craft language that will pass this time…(it was recommended to be killed by the second committee.)
The OPLC (Office of Professional Licensure & Certification) asked me to submit some updates to their laws, so I put in four bills for them. One simply deletes the crime of barbering without a license if you’re doing it for free (as many of us did during the pandemic!); another sets the criteria for a public body to hold a remote meeting if they choose. Another switches some professional licenses to two years, rather than one, for everyone’s convenience. The last is a collection of technical changes – I actually haven’t seen the text yet, since OPLC is polishing it for me.
Otherwise, I’m campaigning for reelection – you may have seen my signs out in the district. If you want one, please let me know. It’s been harder to meet people this year – standing at the polls at the primary was about the only chance to meet people without major pre-arrangements.
I’m asking for your vote in the election on November 3 so that I can continue to represent you in Concord. I will always report on what I’m doing, listen to your concerns, and help you as I can with problems with the state government. My voting pattern will continue to be towards smaller government, lower taxes, fewer regulations, and more protection for individual rights.
