Maine has announced that it will be giving vaccine recipients a card. No, it’s not a thank you card, nor a gift card. It’s a card that tells you that you got the shot. It also has a reminder on it. You need to show up so they can do it again.

The coronavirus vaccine that is becoming available is a two-shot series. People who receive the vaccine will receive a card that reminds them when they were vaccinated, as well as where and when they need to return for a second shot, Maine Center for Disease Control Director Dr. Nirvav Shah said Wednesday.
I’m sure it’s just a harmless reminder, and the state of Maine has no intention of using this as some sort of tracking document or as a way to restrict your movements if you don’t have one. It’s just a reminder? Right?
I wish I was stupid enough or gullible enough or just not so cynical about politicians and government to say that’s the case. I mean, I’m sure someone thinks that’s all it is. And they are also convinced it’s not training wheels for some other sort of card related to matters of public health that you’ll need to keep on you at all times if someone in authority asks for it.
And no one would ever tell business owners to refuse service to someone who didn’t have a card the way Nashua has forced this on job creators if you do not have a mask on your face.
No, that would never happen.
Just like the government would never put you under house arrest, tell you your primary source of income was non-essential, or that you can’t have people over for a party or a holiday. You know, that would be frikking fascist, and this is America.
Right?
